  1. Yes, that way you get the extra growl from the added slackness. Nate's trademark sound comes from that.
  2. That's the second time I've had to play this card. I get a tenner if I get three in a row don't I Ped?
  3. Is that your own opinion or were you told that? Did he (Nim Sadot) tell you his secret?
  4. Good work NoirBass. Good of you to spare us direct contact with YT.
  5. You've done this before right? It's pretty much a kit build so I would go for the inexpensive option with a view to upgrading the neck at a future date if you feel it is worth the extra.
  6. Nate Watts always tuned his four string bass to E flat.
  7. It'll probably be good for Skiffle but beyond that I'm not making any promises.
  8. Much appreciated. I have a piece that might serve as the centre lamination in my neck through.
  9. Hurry up with that. I want to copy it. Heeheehee. The neighbour gave me a nice chunk of timber yesterday. I need to identify it to see if it's any good for my neck through.
  10. Please say there is a clip of you doing that somewhere online.
  11. Just change hands when playing and style it out?
  12. The strings supplied seemed ever so coarse on mine. I swapped them for some D'Adddario half-rounds. I had to open up the hole in the bridge a little to get the windings through near the ball end on the B.
  13. If it ever gets off the ground it will be something. I am considering contracting some of the work out. The main thing being the thicknessing and then the bonding of all of the laminates. Although I could farm out the thicknessing by itself and bond the pieces at home, it leaves room for mishaps that way. Jack's daughter's partner is a cabinet maker in a commercial workshop and back at work with social distancing. I will see if his firm will quote for the job. None of it's going to start without some sort of plan and the ideas are only just coming up to boil. Like yourself, I will need to do some 1:1 scale drafts to help my ideas to crystallise.
  14. It is only 17 inch scale though. Nice spec.
  15. Looking through images for ideas I have seen normal (perpendicular orientation) headpieces used in conjunction with an angled zero fret. I've also seen Brice bass's individual headpiece string clamps.
