  1. Which one of these plays bass though? I'd have money on Trump playing suzaphone and Satchmo' on cornet.
  2. I believe Donald trumps on ^that^ one.
  3. I understand completely. Our Jack is in a high risk category too so as resident carer I have to behave like I am as well. Not wanting to tempt fate, I haven't committed to this year's event yet I don't want to think that it's off the cards altogether.
  4. Oh it's an equal opportunities aubergine then? The emoji doesn't convey that entirely. Very gourd, carry on.
  5. A Build Diary thread might be appropriate but I haven't checked the site rules about commercial manufacturers.
  6. Sims Metal Management, Mansfield Road Derby I didn't know they made basses?!?!
  7. Clannad played for us a couple of times at boarding school before they went electric. It was between 1975 and 1977. The bridge collapsed on Ciarán Brennan's double bass during the intro to their first number. Some of the music students got up on stage to help and it was a great ice breaker. Their early stuff may have been overshadowed by the success they had with the theme for television's Robin of Sherwood. It's a lovely open sound they had though and it is well worth searching out early releases.
  8. Have you tried posting the question in the Site Issues and Questions section JV?
  9. ...and the temptation to garrote the occasional punter with it would be a distraction.
  10. Welcome Ron. I agree with Reggaebass. What you have is a certain amount of mojo. While a refret is okay to keep it playable, it might be wisest to leave as is if you want to preserve its value. You've come to the right place for pointers. I am no expert but there are a good few here in the know, as it were.
  11. While I agree and indeed may go that route one day, I don't like the thin string part. It may well be strong enough but it looks daft.
  12. I doubt that there will be many wanting to do the cruise ships this year.
  13. Just off the Raynesway? Cool. Spondon frames were the coolest way of repairing a bent superbike in their day. I often wished I'd taken that route instead of reliable (boring) shaft driven 'bikes.
  14. All hail the driller killer! It's funny how drill bits can steer a curved path. Even with high tech bits, the the timber can have little areas of dense grain that pull on the cutting flutes and cause deviation. I'm betting that's the case with African Drum Wood too. Well done.
  15. It might be that you will go for a different design. It will still be a reflection of your own style. It is that which is evolving and very nicely too if I may say.
  16. Have no regrets. Your design style is evolving into something more coherent, that's all. With a couple more under your belt you will have a well refined instrument.
