I would play C with my 4th finger on the D string, D 1st finger on the G string, E 3rd finger on the G, D 1st on G strings and C 4th on the D string. I am FULLY aware this is controversial, but at that position it is very doable.

I have found myself falling in to this hole as well. I am never going to programme anything. I just want 3 or 4 presets to do kind of organ pedal tones. I would happily spend the money on a Behringer Mini Moog-alike but the lack of presets is a complete non-starter for me. As soon as I have controllers which interact with each other everything goes fuzzy in my head. Running Moog apps on an iPad is great. Frankly, Garage Band presets do all I need. All the presets I could want. Even using the on screen keyboards are interesting as I can glide around between notes and moving your finger from front to back of the key opens various filters. Obviously I will need to hook up a hardware keyboard as well so that is more stuff to cart around which is sub optimal. But I thought I would throw this concept into the mix.

The groove in the pop shield is because I had stored it in the cradle. It will not be grooved within 5 minutes. -

Let's say £160 £150 Level control, synth control (same pitch as played note) and one octave down in an OC2 stylee. Each of these controls has a filter control to do filtery things. It can get pretty gnarly (dude) Words, words, words, words, more words, words, words and more words. Enough of my chatter. Words do not convey sounds very well, but this does....

That looks like it might work, but having said that, the heel of this is 11mm wider than a standard P body so to get the balance would have quite a chunky overhang. Obviously I NEVER go up there so this whole thing is academic, but I think it would upset me on an aesthetic level. I think. Of course this means finding something else which is a royal pain.

Buy cheap, buy twice. I know. But what is cheap and what is expensive? Bear in mind I might do 5 nuts absolute max. I would want to do guitars as well as bass. Sorry. Ebay have all sorts for £15 ish.

This is the answer you are looking for. If you plug the J Tone into your amp and it sounds fine, then it is fine. If it does not sound fine (weedy) then it is because (as you have said) the pickup needs to see a higher impedance. Any FDeck thang will do all you need. You can spend more (I have - frequently) but this does the fundamentals just fine and dandy. This is actually even better value than the Rafferty. I use one as my buffer and I do love being able to wipe a touch of the top end off as well.

Ouch. But the costs look fair. Hourly rates are not what they used to be. My personal experience was with a Double Bass and a luthier. It hit almost 4 figures. It is never a great moment.

I have always done some side to side vibrato on some longer notes in a phrase. I never realised that I did it until I went fanned fret. Side to side on the most angled frets with roundwounds was not for me.

Of course, my problem is that I now have a neck looking for a body. I am trying to get my head around neck pocket proportions. I am fully aware that it is probably obvious to everyone else already. Writing stuff down enables me to "finesse" my thought processes. And you are all my friends so it is OK. I had thought of getting an unrouted 4 string P body blank and opening the neck pocket slightly more than usual, but that would need a bit of an overhang for the G side of the neck to get things centered. So is this a matter of getting the instructions for some CNC action and going in from scratch?

I have two of these. How did that happen? Anyway, this is structurally sound but needs the clasps replacing. I have the clasps, somewhere, and will find them if someone wants this. You will have to fit them yourself. This is why it is dirt cheap.
