The mother of all cabs has left the building.

The Bergantino IP310 has been sold. I am sad, but it is for the best. We live in strange times but I am not using this. This is the cab that has seen off all comers for the past decade and more for me. 3x10 and really nice horn + 1000 watt plate amp. Yes. 1000. It goes all the way down. It laughs at all other active cabs I have tried. And I have tried. It fights with all the drummers. It has headroom in an addictive style. I went through a phase when I thought that all preamps sounded great. I then realised that they all sounded great through this. If it is all that and more then why sell? My ears are knackered and I cannot play without 27db plugs. There is no point in me being able to generate this level of SPL and LF extension cos I do not get to enjoy it. I will not pretend it is light. It is not (circa 80lbs, now you ask) but it is on good wheels and compact enough to do a one bod lift. But once you plug in you forget about the weight and just swim in that pillow of molten chocolate goodness. I am aware that that was a mixed metaphor, but it covers all the angles. Not that there are angles in this sound. Just lushness. Compact 1 driver cabs are great. Super efficient drivers are great. But a bigger cab with more surface area and a FAT power amp has a certain je ne sais quoi. Carriage will not be Hermes @ £5.60 so we will split it. I am in Bangor, North Wales. I do not have to sell it and will not be sad to use it now and again if I keep it. My price is firm. Fancy it you know you do.

Play for free, it's good exposure...BBC content

Every programme which pitches to the people who hold the purse strings to have a band on have a union approved rate in their budget. If individual production companies try to rip off musicians that is not within the control of the BBC at that moment. I presume that that production company have been told that this was not cool. Some production companies in Wales have long had a non union rate and a union rate. They offer the 50% rate until you mutter MU and then the magic happens. UK PLC knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. This is not just muscians and being paid. It is the society we live in. It is the society we, as a country, have chosen. -

How do I actually measure the output of my bass?
Owen replied to Owen's topic in Repairs and Technical
You guys! Thanks -
As in actual Volts (or whatever I am meant to say here!). I am trying to sort out stuff and would like to know in numbers whether one of my basses is SUPER HOT on output or whether my problem is elsewhere. Do I put a multimeter across a jack plug? TIA.

I bought it becuse I wanted THE BEST. How wrong I was.

I had one of those and it did exactly the same thing. It came off the bass pretty quickly. I gave the spare parts to @silverfoxnik about 15 years ago. It is DEEPLY unlikely that he still has them, but you know that we are all hoarders.............................

I keep 2 basses at work. One is a Mazeti 5 string fitted with two beefy Villex pickups. Vol/Vol/passive mid cut/tone. Neck through 35" and very nice. I also keep an MTD Kingston 5er there. I LOVE the MTD neck and feel. I want another. If no one has one my world will still turn but it does not hurt to ask. I am not looking for a sale cos I will just need to replace it. I just want another MTD Kingston and they do not come up often.

I am not one for the single cut as it has developed on basses but the Ritter Princess Isabella Bass TOTALLY floats my boat.

Ex bass uke. I would love to try it. I cannot deny I am tempted.

I got my black Friday mixed up and got all spendy last Sat.
-
It would be rude not to. The noise supression for spoken word in the RX is worth the price admission alone.
-
Don't worry. You can buy new speakers. Your ears are another matter......
-
You say it is very blingy like that is a bad thing. That is going STRAIGHT onto my Ebay watchlist.

Performances that left you slack jawed

I saw Nate Smith + Kinfolk in London a few years ago. I have never seen such ensemble work. I used to think that mistakes were a bad thing, but in this kind of stuff if you are not making mistakes you are not trying hard enough. There was the odd musical ripple but they rode them with a smile and easy grace. It was just sublime. There was Miles Davies in the Festival Hall in London in '91. The whole band was astounding. I stood there thinking "what he is playing makes no sense, and yet it is fabulous". I felt like I was walking on air for 3 days afterwards -
I librated one of the QSC K10.2 boxes last night to bring home for the weekend. It is quite the thing.

I can offer no technical assistance, but would add "while wearing proper moulded ear-plugs" to the title.
