    G&L L-2000.

    Yep, still a great colour.
  2. I am generally in a post-GAS phase in my life by now. Not much gets me going. But if this had an extra string I would not be able to stop myself.
  3. That is a level of maintenance which is way beyond my patience level. It was a nice idea though Thanks

    G&L L-2000.

To be fair, G&L do some lovely colours. And great instruments.
  5. If only it was a 6er. Words I never thought I would type!
  6. That video gave me Smith GAS.
  7. That is the conclusion I had come to but was hoping I was wrong. I frequently am.
  8. I am building a bass. Very slowly. Indeed. However I have been considering how to finish and, today, I fancy Duck egg blue but in a matte finish. How hard is that? Is it do-able or would it just get shiny at the wear points?
  9. The software to mess with the DSP is out there somewhere. You could tweak it to your heart's content!
  10. No disrespect to your singer, but we all know that a singer carrying less than usual is moving into the realms of the impossible.
  11. I went F# to G on a six string. It was an Overwater 36" and was sublime. Sadly, my head could just not deal with it. I sold it. I still miss it.
  12. Fair play, his list of artists worked with is pretty stellar, and crosses all the musical boundaries. 13. I wish someone had told UPS weeks ago. It all ended well but I was VERY close to recalling the bass cos they said that it might just be destroyed at customs.
  14. I have bought from outside the UK. Carriage is a bit more but other than that no issues. Be careful about CITES wood.
  15. And while we are at it, sitting down to play is where it is at.
  16. I paid, it came and it was all good. Like it should be
  17. The Jose James cover album of the Bill Withers songbook put Nate Smith and Pino together. That is a nice section as well. Not that I am comparing them.
  18. It's going to be a long day. And not just for you.
  19. I personally believe that we are living in the golden age of lutherie. It is very difficult to buy a poor instrument now. Pickups generally are the weak spot, but even then they are not rubbish. I just got 2 J&D Jazz basses for work for £125 and they are fine and dandy. I could happily gig them. They are slightly heavy and the Poly on them is nice and thick, but I think that is the norm until you spend quite a bit more. I think you have to climb much higher than another £100 to get anything that is appreciably better. Dan, on reading it this again, my post could seem as if I am disagreeing with you in a forum/troll stylee and that was not my intention.
  20. I must admit I have never picked up a Yamaha and thought anything but "yep, that will do the job nicely".
  21. The tragedy is that most of these are still valid. It seems that we learn nothing.
