  1. It was exciting while it lasted
  2. Ain't that the truth! I have (too) many basses and which ones the Induction Loop chooses to attack is utterly random - single coils, humbuckers, Piezo - it just does not care.
  3. You are going in to a situation where maybe everyone is not an experienced player. That is ok, but your job might, on occasion, be about holding things together rather that laying down the funkiest grooves. And that is OK as well because the music is there to support not to shine. Not all keyboard players understand slash chords so C/E might well be read as a C chord and your playing the E could sound pretty muddy. The comment about pianists and looking after the bass end is completely valid - and sometimes it is just too much agro to educate them so you will need to pare your parts right back to not get in the way. There are all sorts of valid arguments about educating them, but in the heat of the moment they might forget and then it is your job to make the band sound good. You are there to enable the congregation, and that is cool. I could go on about this stuff all day!
  4. Ah yes, postage. I guess no one is going to be waltzing in to my house to pick them up. I guess postage will be an extra £2 with a refund if it turns out to be less and I will eat it if it is more.

  6. It is hugely annoying! However, someone's brother is going to make it work with Windows 10 so it is all good. Sold
  7. This is a fully functioning 3 octave keyboard and 2 in 2 out audio interface BUT! It only has drivers for OSX 10.7 - not supported after that. If you are sticking with an older setup and not upgrading cos it works then for the cost of postage this is your - inc the Firewire cable it needs. It seems a shame to bin it but I suspect that is where it is going.
  8. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/daddario-helicore-medium-tension-cello-strings-tuned-in-fourths.1339921/ These might still be there?
  9. I used to play 'cello before graduating to the king of all instruments. Moving from 4ths to 5ths makes my head wobbly inside. I cannot deny that I am fascinated. I presume you have clocked the video on youtube? If not (and for anyone else) here it is. They seem to be an octave up. I am now looking at these and wondering if I should have kept my 'cello. Having said that, I have enjoyed the bass guitars I have bought and sold over the years using the money from the 'cello. I hope you will keep us fully informed. Welcome aboard Jan.
  10. Congrats to whoever got this. I am more than a bit jealous.

    G&L L-2000.

G&L have it going on. Did you see this? Proper lush it is.

    G&L L-2000.

    Yep, still a great colour.
  13. I am generally in a post-GAS phase in my life by now. Not much gets me going. But if this had an extra string I would not be able to stop myself.
  14. That REALLY works.
  15. That is a level of maintenance which is way beyond my patience level. It was a nice idea though Thanks

    G&L L-2000.

To be fair, G&L do some lovely colours. And great instruments.
  17. If only it was a 6er. Words I never thought I would type!
  18. That video gave me Smith GAS.
  19. That is the conclusion I had come to but was hoping I was wrong. I frequently am.
  20. I am building a bass. Very slowly. Indeed. However I have been considering how to finish and, today, I fancy Duck egg blue but in a matte finish. How hard is that? Is it do-able or would it just get shiny at the wear points?
  21. The software to mess with the DSP is out there somewhere. You could tweak it to your heart's content!
  22. No disrespect to your singer, but we all know that a singer carrying less than usual is moving into the realms of the impossible.
  23. I went F# to G on a six string. It was an Overwater 36" and was sublime. Sadly, my head could just not deal with it. I sold it. I still miss it.
  24. Truly, the internet has everything.
