  1. The actual HPF aspect of it is great, but it is actually the fact that it just makes everything sound nice that makes me like it. I am open to being schooled here, but any passive instrument likes a high impedance input, no?
  2. Life is too short for poor tone.
  3. I am sitting in a air bnb in Manchester making a weekend of it with the family. Getting everything out of the car, into the lift and up 4 floors was joyous.
  4. Just for completeness I will note on this thread as well that any preamp would be improved with an Fdeck HPF as the first stage of the input.
  5. I have a 3 knob East/ACG preamp in a bass. I fancy a 3 knob Uni pre instead. It has 3 dual pots - Vol/balance filter/thing filter/thing. It works but it is not for me.
  6. I am just looking forward to shaking Jon Shukers hand and thanking him for making one and a half of my favourite basses.
  7. I would certainly be auditioning other cabs with the Fishman/Aguliar combination.
  8. Sad times for us, but this pales into insignificance compared to them so you are doing a good thing!
  9. I am sure a courier would take it. And for surprisingly little money. I used to keep one for buying basses. I would send it empty for 12 quid ish. And it is not as if you would need to wrap it!
  10. In which case borrow some different speakers and see how they work for you. Roll into a bass bash (Midlands one on Sat) and plug into different stuff.
  11. The Fishman Pro would be fine and dandy. Don't get me wrong, new kit is lovely, but you do not always need it.
  12. You would be VERY surprised how much more suitable your present rig would be with an Fdeck HPF at the front end of your signal chain.
  13. He has been talking some sense recently..........
  14. You could put them all on a plastic chopping board and slide them into the front pocket of your gig bag.
  15. I have spent a happy morning plugging in various basses and am coming to the conclusion that I have some basses and some preamps I like better than others. Therefore there is not much reason to keep all of them so I might well have some for sale stuff as well. Not fully decided yet.
  16. Morrissons seem to be very clued up and play a lot of stuff which appeals to 53 year old miserable gits.
  17. I am no stranger to kit excess. However, I have never wanted for more than mine can deliver in any situation. Obv it would be loads of fun! If you are anywhere near this and want to try the best then look no further.
  18. I polished up my late 1800s Double Bass with Servisol Chrome Polish and a buffer pad on an electric drill. It came up lovely. I am not joking.
  19. It would be a very pleasant surprise if the Mooer could do what the FI does. I would be happy to be proved wrong.
  20. I have a friend who builds lovely Violins etc. He mildly relics them because the Orchestral bods pure loves a bit of patina. It is not just us.
  21. If there is a preamp idea floating around could I suggest the Fdeck circuit as the first stage of it? I have yet to plug anything into one which does not sound nicer because of it.
