The actual HPF aspect of it is great, but it is actually the fact that it just makes everything sound nice that makes me like it. I am open to being schooled here, but any passive instrument likes a high impedance input, no?
I am sitting in a air bnb in Manchester making a weekend of it with the family. Getting everything out of the car, into the lift and up 4 floors was joyous.
I have a 3 knob East/ACG preamp in a bass. I fancy a 3 knob Uni pre instead. It has 3 dual pots - Vol/balance filter/thing filter/thing. It works but it is not for me.
I am sure a courier would take it. And for surprisingly little money. I used to keep one for buying basses. I would send it empty for 12 quid ish. And it is not as if you would need to wrap it!
I have spent a happy morning plugging in various basses and am coming to the conclusion that I have some basses and some preamps I like better than others. Therefore there is not much reason to keep all of them so I might well have some for sale stuff as well. Not fully decided yet.
I am no stranger to kit excess. However, I have never wanted for more than mine can deliver in any situation. Obv it would be loads of fun!
If you are anywhere near this and want to try the best then look no further.
If there is a preamp idea floating around could I suggest the Fdeck circuit as the first stage of it? I have yet to plug anything into one which does not sound nicer because of it.
