  1. It is my birthday next week and my wife is going to buy me a spokeshave. She does not know this yet. What should I get?
  2. Sorry, I am trying to add pics but my phone and the site are not locking in the groove at the moment.
  3. I have owned this for years. I cannot remember how long. It has piezo and mag pickups. It has an Undercover gig bag and a Pelican hard case on wheels. It is very lovely, but I have not played it in anger for literally years. I now have a very small DB with Uke strings on it so my DB without DB size needs are covered. Can I keep everything for ever? No. It is time to rationalise. There is a small dent on the neck that United Airlines managed to make. Uncool. There is also the Gollihur pretend D stop addition so that shifting up is not a dive into the abyss. I now have to go and hoover before friends come tomorrow. Getting it out and taking pics now would be frowned upon by the rest of the cleaning team (and rightly so). It is strung with Innovation Honeys. The hard case is airline safe so couriering it should be fine. We can split the shipping cost 50/50.
  4. This is a 16 channel digital mixer in a 4U format. It comes with an external very good dual band router so no awkward drop outs. It also comes with an iPad with software ready to go on it (software is free). It comes with a 1TB HD drive so that you can multitrack record any gig, rehearsal or whatever. There is a Samson 4 way Headphone amp plumbed in (with the finest OBBM patch leads) so you can go all hard wired in-ears if you fancy being like the grown ups but without the mind bending cost of "proper" in ears. I have gigged very happily with good earbuds and a long headphone extender lead for years and it is fine and dandy. The day I go wireless on my bass is the day I will need wireless in ears. Obv, I am fully aware that wireless doobries with 8 driver moulded ear plugs are the way to go, but sometimes there are cheaper ways of doing it. It is racked in a Boschma 4 U plastic rack. Desk is £780 odd new Samson S-phone headphone amp is £150 odd new Boschma 4U £70 odd new 2nd hand iPad £120ish Leads from your man OBBM - priceless. Decent router £90 new 1TB Samsung HD £40ish That all adds up to £1250 ish I used it, it was great, but I no longer need it. I have enough basses I do not use, I do not need to start collecting PA kit as well. It is all wired in and ready to go for a hassle free mixing experience. Carriage will be extra and at cost inc Insurance. I am happy to split it.
  5. There is room for everyone on my threads. ESPECIALLY when they bring cake. I think I like cake as much as bass.
  6. You had better not refrain! That would be very dissapointing. The reality is that number 2 offspring is of to University tomorrow and my time is going to open up. In theory. I guess I should get hold of some Alder and a spokeshave sometime soon.
  7. Au contraire, I am looking for perfection! I already have it in DB form.
  8. Come what may, I am having a pair of orange or red dungarees!
  9. But.....but......but.......power tools!
  10. Would it be bad to use an angle grinder? I mean, how hard can it be? He makes it look easy peasy.
  11. I hate it when that happens!
  12. That is a lovely looking axe.
  13. My tame luthier student went and tapped all the polepieces with a allen key and there was equal volume across everything so I gave skater student a spare E string and we shall see what happens. Thanks all..
  14. Wow, they have not got any cheaper
  15. I still miss my Korg G5.
  16. Not wanting to de-rail, but EXCITING TIMES!
  17. This looks like the kind of manual I might actually read. This is not normal for me. Good job.
  18. I have a student who was carrying his bass on his back while skateboarding. He fell off. I have mentioned that this was not his finest hour. However the upshot of the fall was that the neck pickup (J type instrument) was pushed down on the E string side. He has lifted it again but strangely the E is now quieter than G D and A on both neck and bridge pickups - solo-ed and together. The instrument is passive. Can anyone suggest any fixes? TIA.
  19. The plans? Possibly. But I cannot guarantee that. Have you noticed the thread title?
  20. Again, thanks everyone for humouring me I have bought special long paper and a presentation board to tape it onto. I have a 3B pencil and a rubber. I am almost certain I have a long straight edge in the garage. I am on fire!
  21. If I am going super curved I will need an extra thick body blank, no? I was going with sonic blue but realised that might well need a whte-ish scratchplate to offset it. I am thinking maybe copper leaf cos ....... umm.......... shiny.
  22. I resemble that remark.
  23. I think I am over the lathe thing (even though it was exciting), but I could make a bowl will a flat bottom which only curved at the extreme edges.
  24. They have some pretty accurate readings of what is happening in the UK at the moment, but that would be de-railing my own thread!
