  1. I went to see Nate Smth and Kinfolk at the Jazz Cafe in Camden last week. Fima Ephron was on bass (Tokai P bass with added bridge pickup - cos I know you care about that stuff). What a sublime bassist. Always playing the right thing, always supporting, getting funky when the time was right and locking RIGHT in with Nate Smith. It was everything you hope for - but not for the technique or the flash, but for the ensemble playing. Proper lush. Respect is due.
  2. Mr JPJ is completely sound as a seller. No, really.
  3. I have no possible use for this. That makes me sad.
  4. I guess I could change the actual potentiometer in the volume pedal. But which potentiometer?
  5. I would love to design a bass and have it CNCd into existence. I would happily pay someone to make it happen.
  6. I am souping up the church keyboard system. I am using an Ernie Ball volume pedal between the macbook and the stage box. It works on the last 10% of travel. Clearly not the ideal taper! What do I use? While I have your attention, the PSU for the mac is not earth friendly. I can run it on the battery but inveriably when I am not there we get user error and I would like to make it as difficult as possible for them to get it wrong. New PSU o'clock?
  7. Good morning all. The college I work in needs some new microphones for basic live vocal work. Obviously I could go for the good old SM58 but I am more than aware that there are better options. However, the option I am looking for is what is fine and dandy and much cheaper. There is no point in spending serious coin on micrphones because they will be abused constantly and/or be nicked. Am I happy about that? No. Am I being realistic? Yes. We also could do with a pair of 414 mics for overhead work - but the same circumstances apply to their use. Any ideas what woud work nicely but not make me cry when they are droppped? TIA.
  8. Smooth like velvet.
  9. I bought a bass from Andrea. It was very easy. The communication was very good. I would do so again tomorrow. Especially if it was a Deep 5.
  10. I am afraid the price is firm and I am not looking for trades. Thanks.
  11. All good, not my flavour. To your door.
  12. All good. Couple of scratches but all good. I will chuck the velcro in because I just love to share. Fancy it to mess with you know you do..
  13. You will need a seperate amp to drive them. Mac->amp->speaker. Older hifi seperate amps are cheap as chips on ebay.
  14. I can feel a Deep 5 GAS attack brewing. I do not need it NOW, but reckon it is on the way. Are there actually any in the UK? If you own one would you mind if I rolled over and tried it. I have bought with my eyes too many times and really need to be buying with my ears! PM conversatinos are fine :)
  15. EC claim to fame part 2. He sat in the same row as me when we both watched SRV in London back in thr day.
  16. I have used them for years. But not for long enough. I cannot play without them. I even use them in Church. Sadly we are not a monster Gospel Music event. Even an acoustic piano distorts my ears now. Use them or stop playing. No, really.

    1959 Jazz Bass

Already routed with bigger holes so messing with upgrading the pickups will be a breeze.
  18. I have discussed it with Mr Catswhiskers who initially suggested a Classic 5 Humbucker (http://www.catswhiskerpickups.co.uk/humbucker.html). I asked about the suitability of a dual P90 set up and he suggested the Fat Moggy. I am sure either would work and I would be more than happy with either. Thanks for being part of my stream of conciousness thought process. I will have the Fat Moggy.
