Thanks. I know exactly what PLEK is. I am just wondering if people who have had one done see it as a step above a full hand-done set-up/fret dress, etc.

I am just thinking aloud here really. Has anyone had a PLEK done and thought "Yeah, that is stuff - that made a massive difference". None of my basses are hard to play, but there is a part of me that wonders if they could be nicer/easier/something else-er. Setting things up is easy for some people - but not for me

Check your nut. When I went super low (F#) it was deeply lacklustre until I opened up the nut slightly so the string (.175) sits in it properly. I had tried low F# before but had not got it to work. This was the answer for me. Take the next string up, put it in some sandpaper and slowly open the nut up. YMMV

It turns out that the bass was not actually for sale, despite eBay telling me it was. We live in a strange world. But it was exciting while it lasted. The one there is not, the chase only there is.

I suspect super glue is not the answer for the OP, but it most certainly is for Mr BB. Use it as a finger pad coating.

So, I have an early Korean MTD Kingston I won when I was playing Ebay roulette many, many years ago. It has been roundly abused through the years with multiple pickup/preamp combos going in there. I should have kept the Audere preamp with the Low-Z switch . It was intense. Anyway, I LOVE the neck on it. It is (apparently) asymmetric. It is quite thin and just feels fabulous in my hand. I have other basses and sometimes wonder if I could have the necks re-carved into something similar. I know that if I change the mass of the wood then the way the instrument responds will change. It is entirely possible that I should not be trying to fix things which are already working. But I cannot help but wonder. Is this a thing people have done?

Newtones down to B and then a Payson .175 for the F#. I am sure a .175 Newton would do the same thing, but the Payson was there and convenient.
