  1. You are TOTALLY worth it.
  2. The Corporate World is very cool. Tell her we said so.
  3. There are lots and lots of variables here. But one of the really cheap things which will make a huge difference is actually training everyone who will be close to a mic. People are genuinely clueless with mic work. Shockingly so.
  4. I love it!!!!!!!!!
  5. I hope the op goes well.
  6. There is a hi z / low z option on it which did not seem to make a huge amount of difference. But it sounded MIGHTY fine.
  7. I am in the very privileged position of working in an FE college which has just provided us with a new studio. It is lush, but that is beside the point. Yesterday we were testing various signal paths out and we plugged a passive Sandberg P into a Neve 1073 500 series, a Cranborne Camden 500 series and a Warm Audio WM12. Obv they were all different flavours of nice. But what confused me somewhat was that the passive tone control on the Sandberg had virtually no effect into the 1073, but did exactly what I expected it to into the Camden and the WM12. I suspect this has something to do with this impedance load being presented to the bass by the preamp input, but I could well be wrong. Can anyone throw any light on it? Sadly, my fave was the 1073. My tastes are simple but expensive.
  8. Do you deeply love your present cab? I put a preamp into an active PA cab and could not be happier.
  9. And Chris "Daddy" Dave on kit. She does not mess around.
  10. I played one of these recently. Just way too much fun. If it was a 5 etc etc etc.
  11. I knew I had seen a stripped one and suspected it was you Chris. So it is your fault that I own one. I bought mine while playing ebay roulette. "There is no chance the seller will accept that offer. Oh. They did.". I sent it off to be resprayed. The guy doing was less than impressed by the finish. I (lamely) offered to strip it, but he said that a lot of his prepping to paint involved mending poor stripping jobs. I did not fight him. Before sending it to him I discovered thag acetate took the rubber off fairly well. During the process I had a tummy tuck and forearm contour done.
  12. "To all the basses I've loved before, that travelled in and out my door"......
  13. It is weird, I always suspect that my basses could be lusher but do not live close enough to top end Tech bods to even discuss it let alone have anything done. Or know that they could be better. This is based on playing one or two basses over the years and thinking "this feels fabulous". I can never tell if that is neck carve or action or one of 20 other things. I do know that a guy I work with took his LP Gold Top, his CS strat and his Gibson 335 to a guy who is acknowledged as top notch and they came back as a joy to play in a way they were not before. They were fine before, but after fettling they were lush beyond. So I do not even know what I would be looking for!
  14. I know there is a Sadowsky vid which is well thought of. Any other suggestions?
  15. They totally do not require any mods. But I put a full Bongo electronics set into mine. Excessive? Moi?
  16. I have one of these in 5 string. I have changed a lot of it, but it is a great way to get on the SR train without getting spendy.
  17. This does not fit in a Schaller M4 3/8 hole. Just so you know. Unfitted but tatty box (if that worries you).
  18. Slippery slope......
  19. I taught someone who bought an NS5 loaded with them. This was many years ago and it is entirely possible that the bass eq was whacked up on them, but they felt really nice and sounded silky.
  20. B is an extra £150 odd. As I said, wowzers.
  21. Wowzers. £250 odd. Without a B. It has been a very long time since I changed strings. That is spendy. Perhaps I will not.
