I bought them 2nd hand with "light use". I have done one gig with them and decided they are not for me. I cannot tell you exaclty how much use they have had but they are not at all "knackered" and all the wraps are smooth.

    Tip facing split = a dab of glue. Wedge falling out = if it was having a re-hair the wedge would be out anyway. Don't buy a new one. Treat yourself to a rehair. Job done.

    I have now strung it B-C and the nut seems perfectly happy. I will now DEFINITELY not play it again because the C string exacerbates my fear of heights.

    Rhythm Deaf. I have had many students over the years who were rhythm deaf. Last year and this year I have had one that try as I might I could not get them in the zone. I have tried physically tapping their feet, tapping their shoulder, dancing with them but all to no avail. If it is not there it is not there. Harsh but there it is. He will not find it in the next 3 weeks. Do the gig, film it and use it as evidence. Or cancel it and save the good name of the band. But do not imagine that the gig will work. It will not.

    I have a Felix which I use for DB. It is sublime. For Bass Guitar? It is OK, but If I was dropping £1K on a bass guitar pre I would be looking at Monique/Tantra Bass Preamp/Demeter/Aguilar etc Don't get me wrong, if I am doubling on a gig then I am more than happy to use the Felix, but if it was bass guitar only I would be looking elsewhere.

    I have a Faith Mercury which I picked up 2nd hand for well under £500 and every time it is plugged in outside the house sound engineers seem to get very excited. I like it as well.

    Do you open your string drawer and find things that you just have no idea what they are? I[s] have a full set of lightly used ('broken in") TI flats. Nothing unusual there. Also in the pack I have a brand new G and a brand new D. I have no idea where they came from and why I would buy individual strings. There is also a used B there. £30 all in or £22 + individuals[/s] I also have a batch of strings which I have been hoarding for the moment when I will take on the world with bottom F#. I now know that this is not going to happen so there is no point in hoarding, They are a hotchpotch. One is 36" from ball end to nut and is fat. It has no silks (used - as in strung up but perhaps 30 minute max playing time) (possibly .165) - £8 One is the same length but is even fatter. It could be used as a towrope if pushed (used - as in strung up but perhaps 30 minute max playing time) (possibly .195) - £9 cos it is fatter One is a 148 and is new. £12 The other 2 are Kalium and made for Dingwal bods and are ( I think) .158. Both are unused. £10 each A set of Newtone strings (round core, nickel wrap) made for me for 42" scale length ocatve below standard EADG - I wanted to try ultra low on my NS EUB. I got the scale length wrong. Stop laughing - it is not funny. I have no idea what use these could be, but there are some strange folk out there! £30 [s]2nd hand set of Roto Tru Bass black plastic wound string, cut for Fender £20[/s] All + £2.53 postage.
