1.
https://www.facebook.com/AlanGeorgeGuitars/
Now I am fighting a losing battle to not order tue Tele/Gretsch he has. Thanks for that
2. I have a bitsa Goofellow neck/Shuker Body which much as I like it it just does not get used so I will probably bring that and offer it for sale if anyone fancies it.
3. Thanks everyone for all the info, both given and promised. The preamp is a Monique and the info for the latest mods (mine is very early) is not out there. I am sure that a decent tech could do it but Jule has the secret sauce.
4.
Thanks Dave. Let me know when you're next up this way and i'll pop over
Will that be a DaveBassBash?
5. Found it. Quite a scary walk through 6 years of rampant GAS.
6.
Here you go...
Thanks, is there a magic trick for me to search my PMs as well?
7.
And you're assuming they have the documents related to their buying it from the USA, assuming they were the original owner/importer.
It is wired up for UK voltage so am presuming it is a proper import. I have 50 pages of PMs to wade through to see if I can find who I bought it from. First world problems.
8. Sadness, the PM search function does not work
9. Ugh! This would mean remembering who I bought it from on here. Just as well I never clear out my PM box!
10. I have a preamp that I am thinking about sending back to the manufacturer to be brought up to present spec. He is in the USA. Am I going to get smacked about for import duties at both ends or is there a way around it seeing as I own it and have paid full whack for it? I am not importing it. TIA.
11. Low Achiever.
12. No way I could ever get these into the house and still be allowed to live in it, but boy oh boy I would love them. Every time I listen to ATC speakers I think "oh yes, that is how it should be".
13. Anyone bringing anything to sell? Should I bring pocket money?
14. Bump
15. Some of us live REALLY far away from any decent set up bods. Would anyone know of a good local set up bod who would come in and charge individuals by the hour to do setups? We could book basses in beforehand.
16.
From 1965 I've only had four amps, and while I've built hundreds of speaker cabs of all types I've only used perhaps eight.
I am genuinely interested to know what they are.
17. Screwfix were great on size but as you say, useless on colour. I took what they had so that I could get on and finish the job over the holidays. As usual life got in the way and I am no further forward. My foam is basically aluminium brief case kind of foam. That will be a no then. I will find some proper stuff. Thanks - as usual.
18. Thanks Pete. I have dropped you a pm.
19. Been there. Done that. I presume they are paying you extra for running this rig. You can get a new band. You can get a new guitarist. You cannot get new ears. It is that simple.
20. My cello teacher booted me out for not practising (which was entirely fair). My next teacher suggested that I was probably a DB player. She was correct.
21.
I have one for sale in the market place if you're interested http://basschat.co.u...27#entry3203627
Thanks Grangur but if I was spending that kind of money I would probably just buy a Hiscox.
To be fair, a whole heap of bubble wrap, gig bag and boxes will do it. I done that before, you may be able to pick up a guitar box from a store for feee
Sadly it does not come with a gig bag and the guy who picked up the bass for me is a friend and I am hoping to save him the hassle of a big pack as he has already put himself out for me by picking it up etc.
22. Hi everyone! I have a bass in Bristol which I need to get up to Bangor, North Wales. I was going to buy a hardcase but then wondered if anyone could lend/hire me one so that I can courier it up, take it out of the case and then send it straight back down? TIA
