1.
the project has been abandoned due to sheer laziness
Are we related?
2. The bridge assembly in question is a cheap and cheerful Ebay 5 string bridge which works surprisingly well. It does have floating saddles so I could experiment with putting something under those just to see. It would be a bodge, but that is my speciality There is no way of loading aftermarket saddles onto it sadly:( They are not Gotoh shaped. I figured that the pressure of under bridge plate or neck pocket would be too much, but it is good to actually have that confirmed. Thanks
3.
In the discussion PJB claims that it will replace a Mesa 400+
I used to run a Boogie head. I was thrilled when I got something lighter. But it was never a like for like replacement. Talk about putting pressure on your own product!
4. What has come through from this is that John himself suggests the 250k resistor as an option. If I still get no joy then I will put an either/or switch in and, as Hannah Montanna would say, get the best of both worlds But thanks everyone for your answers and PMs.
5. I am a woodworking numpty. I REALLY have no idea. I have just finished a bass in Danish oil. It was so easy even I could do it. The surface was sanded clean and then I rubbed the oil on. And then it dried. Then I did it again. And then it dried. And then it was finished.
6. It is a beautiful thing to offer it to the BC Massif for a discount, but Thomann offer a 30 day no quible return.
7. I have piezo bridges on two of my basses. I fancy piezo action on another but the bridge will not accommodate it. Could I place an under saddle kind of strip between the bridge and body or even in the neck pocket? Would there be too much pressure? It would probably be as easy to buy a new bridge, but I was just wondering. I need to get out more. TIA.
8.
He paid about £500 for it too 😩
Double sadness
9. Or clear orange with binding. Or black with binding. I will be ok by the morning. Late night is lethal for GAS.
10.
There are very few 5's about, I think there are about 6 or 7. I played one after I did a set up for a chap who found one in cash converters When we spoke to G&L they said there were no plans to make any more as the balance was off...
Sadness
11. I am watching Women in Rock on BBC4 and Skunk Anansie are on. I have irrational G&L ASAT 5 string GAS. In metal flake with matching headstock. Fit.
12.
sorry - thats nice but a little over my budget
It looks as though I have overpriced everything recently so see first post for offers'n'ting.
13.
PM sent.
Do it for us all Higgie!
14. This is a lot of bass for the money. I have waxed lyrical about them whenever they come up. It is light (8lbs 5.5oz) and has a fairly flat fingerboard. The neck has an asymetric carve on the back and has the Buzz Feinten intonation system. 35" scale. When I bought it originally it an MM type of humbucker in it (this will come with the bass). I will now list all I have done to it. Rout body to accept Seymor Duncan MM pickup. 2 x MM pickups = more betterer, obv. Drilled body to accept Active preamp. Got bored and took original pickup and SD pickup and preamp out and put a custom wound Armstrong P pickup in there. Installed an empty shell to cover the hole left by the SD pickup. Vol + passive tone (with funky chicken head knob) , spare hole so dummy pot + knob to fill hole and a KILL SWITCH because there was another spare hole. Did I mention a KILL SWITCH? The strings are "dead as" TI Jazz rounds (not flats) and they have a lovely springy sponginess to them. There is a D tuner on the B which slides down to A very easily. It is a silver one. But let's not get too fussy. So, yeah, this is not factory fresh but it is a really nice bass. So why am I selling? I just do not use it as I have others. If I had any backbone at all I would sell my two 4 strings as well but..........well...........maybe one day..................... It is very black if that kind of thing floats your boat. I do not NEED to sell this so if it does not shift then my world will not stop turning. It will go when it goes. As I have mentioned it is an awful lot of bass for the £ and if it was my only bass then I could be more than happy with it. Quite fancy it you know you do. 15. Bass. If bloke one does not come through by 7pm then it is promised to someone else. So I guess it is sold, pending.
16. No £ forthcoming at the moment so this is available again.
17.
it is a shame that Leicester is so far from me.
I am in Bangor, North Wales, so We would both need to make a 5 hour round trip
18. I am using Inno 140B braided core ones. They speak well with the bow with a rich sound. For me, much richer than Spiros. I have no experience with Evahs, but have never felt the need to look at them. I am happy with the Innos. They give a nice warm pizz with a meaty thud. Not Gut-esque but no metal Spiro boing. I realise that these are my opinions and not empirical facts
19. it is a shame that Leicester is so far from me.
20.
I like it a lot. How did you do that?
No, really, how did you do that?
