1. I have often fancied a REALLY thin bass. Now I know it is possible. Uh oh!
Rob Still makes them fretted! But he is busy. Here is my fretted 5 MB-2 with 33 scale
I asked him about a fretted Deep 5. Probably just as well because I could not afford one
3. The sensitivity knob does have a certain je ne sais quoi.
Oh boy, that's cool! With apologies for going off topic, what is it please?
Yep, sorry about the derail from Rob Allen goodness. You can read about it here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/104007-5-string-bass-ukulele/page__hl__bass%20uke. I would LOVE either a Deep 5 or a Mouse but would need them fretted. Mr Allen said no He does create lovely instruments.
5. I have some basses with luminlay. The one with a rosewood board is great but the one with maple neck and board is ........... not so great in daylight. I should have thought it through! I am subbing to this cos I love your builds.
Hmmm....I have just bought & am enjoying a £90 fret less bass uke. I can that this is where I will end up in a few years!
Perhaps here?
Love it! And really loving my Deep 5 https://www.youtube....h?v=i6kNTPAHVb8
DEEEEEEEEEEEEEP FIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not much gives me GAS these days, but that does. Or a Mouse for that matter.
8. I am loving this. I would love to have these skills.
9. I bought a guitar from yer man here. When he says it is mint that is exactly what it will be.
10. I tried a pedal steel once. My brain still hurts.
11. Firecreek 33" 5 strings tuned B-G are very fine machines indeed.
12. Not wanting to be awkward, but it the unit will not provide phantom power, how do you make the mic work with it? Early congrats on your 1000th post.
13.
You get lower even order harmonic distortion as the motor/suspension asymmetry cancels each other out. It's something I've been thinking of doing in a larger sub too.
As I said, my head hurts.
14.
Good point! we're going to try it with half the drivers reverse mounted.
ACME 2x12"tastic! (?)
15. I love TI Jazz Rounds. They are lush. I also love the Newtone round core low tension strings. They are also lush (and cheaper).
16. I should really consider all I want to say and post it all at once.
17. The Christopher one is made from the same pattern as the Roth one. I tried wheels once and they are great if you are in a building with a nice flat floor, but otherwise it scared me rigid bouncing my bass along pavements etc.
18. It is a very long time since I dealt with a Ritter DB bag, but the proportions were way out of whack back then. I cannot speak for them now.
19. The Roth and Junius one looks to be a direct knock off of my Reunion Blues one which I bought 20 years ago and is still in A1 nick. Obv I cannot vouch for the build quality now, but having studied the pics it seems to be a direct copy.
