1.
Ooo! I'll be very interested to hear a good demo, to find out if the frets still allow it to sound like an upright.
Pressure
2. Sorry, pics tomorrow. I cannot think that far ahead for the next DB bash!
3. Actually arriving tomorrow but I am too excited!
4.
I'd also reserve judgement....but only because it is Berg. It wouldn't be too hard to cop the better DSP models and put into a dedicated bass amp but also, as it is Berg, it has to stand a chance of being creditable.
My guess is that the DSP is not about modelling classic heads but speaker management.
5. Major leap forward in amp design. Other companies are going to have to up their game. None of the grown up PA systems go out without DSP. DSP is obviously happening in all the smaller heads, but here it is happening for specific cabs and it is configurable. This is the future.
6. I am very pleased and Dave has been exceptional throughout the whole process.
7. Yep, they are ACS. However, I have come to the conclusion that it is time for some new ones. Once you pass 40 your ear canals change shape and the suggestion is that you get new molds every 4 years. I am happy to go with ACS, but someone has pointed me in the direction of Hocks filters as well. Does anyone have any experience of the Hocks stuff? TIA
8. All this + Rosewood knobs to come
9. It's no good. I have bought a fretted NS omni bass. It is on it's way over from the US as we speak. I am beyond excited. If it works for me I will be fretting my NS EUB. GOOD TIMES!
10. I have a set of moulded plugs. They are great. The pouch purse thing they came with is dead. What do people use that is not a huge box?
11. The bass is now sold, but for the benefit of general info here is a pic of the P route.
12.
Yeah I'm on Logic X . . .
Then you will just download it from the app store "for nothing" as you already own the licence and the magic will happen
13. I time machined my old macbook and time machined it onto the new one. Easy peasy. I am guessing you are not using Logic X. I was running 8 on my desktop and then went onto Mavericks and it did not like it at all. I had real problems with the display blacking out as the position line moved. I cured it by going to Logic X. I had been waiting for X to come out so was ready to upgrade so it was not a huge deal but I could see it could be super annoying.
14. Oops
15. Ta-da! 16. I have a well used Tokai Jazz with a P pickup. It has the original wanabee Fender script log so according to the Tokai Registry it is 1982 or earlier. It has a non original matt black finish on the body which is kind of funky (in a good way). It has a High Mass Gotoh bridge. If you are looking for a pristine example of the proper Fender copies then this is not it. If you are looking for a good solid working Jazz with a P pickup in it then here it is. I will sort pics out later but I am doing this inbetween other stuff.
17. My Ebay auction went well and I won what I wanted for less than I expected to pay, so I guess I will slice £100 of this. If it does not sell (and I am fully aware that it is a niche piece) then I will not cry cos I like it £500
18.
I namechecked Alpha earlier in the thread while discussing why I was going to have an all in one Rosewood neck. Then I saw the new Alpha neck blank on their facebook page and I wanted everyone to see it cos it is so lush. It is entirely unconnected with my build. Right ....that's me lost !
19.
https://www.facebook...&type=1 Insanity!
I hasten to add that this is not my neck. I was just pointing out a bit more cracking wood from Mr Alpha.
20.
That body looks great! What a cracking piece of wood! I'll be following this! Best of luck with the build and thanks for sharing our work
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=678277962292480&set=pcb.678278022292474&type=1&theater Insanity!
21.
The the one I used is bigger and more expensive, intended for pro PA duty, and requires more outboard parts
Hypex?
22. I am happy to book it in the states, but hope someone can advise who to use. I snagged what I wanted for a good price and my guess is that the seller is less than happy about this so is not massively motivated to sort out a courier and might even ramp up the cost as a way of recovering funds. Fedex will do it for about £140 but I figure it could be cheaper. It is an NS Omnibass so will be bass guitar-esque in size.
23. I might want to arrange a courier from the US to here. Interparcel were heiniously expensive. Any other tips? Ta
24. I don't need any of this, but is it sad that this is my favourite kind of title?
