Korg G5

I had one. It was a joy for squelching and rasping.
2. It is a Newtone string. IIRC it is a 120 with a round core. The whole lot are low tension but I am coming round to that the older I get. Less is more.
3. I have an old P that has had all the varnish taken off the back of the neck. Obviously it is very dirty indeed, but it is far and away the nicest feeling neck I have (in a tactile way). It is just so very SHA-MOOOOOTH. If I was brave enough I would strip back some of my other basses but the whole resale thing then rears it's ugly head.
4. I met up with Dave tonight and had a bash on the bass prior to finishing it. It is very lovely indeed. The unfinished neck wood feels abolutely superb. Like a smooth velvet. The 33" scale and low tension strings create a lovely springyness that I will hugely enjoy. The B is a complete part of the instrument. Good times!
5. I am very interested to hear how these work.
6. Hmmmm..... thanks Dave. Not quite the angle I was hoping for
7. Yeah, I am getting comfy with the boomerang on the Omnibass but fancy trying the other just to see really. I have the endpin kit for my EUB but I tend to stick with the tripod stand. I cannot imagine I will see the other coming up for sale 2nd hand any time soon so I will prob just have to front up and buy new (ugh!). I share your suspicion that getting either the Omni or the EUB to sit at a DB angle is not going to happen, but the NS stuff is pretty well designed so we might be wrong. The noises on TB seem pretty positive about them.
8. Thanks for the offer, but I live in North Wales so popping over to try anything anywhere never happens I have the boomerang and it works fine with the Omnibass, but I am wondering about this one http://www.basscentre.com/ns-design-interchangeable-support-systems/ns-design-frame-strap-system.html
9. Anyone use one? How is it? Does it hold the thing in a vaguely DB position? Ta, like.
10.
I've got 16 x 5" Phil Jones, sounds even more ok
Wrong, it sounds FABULOUS!
11. And here is the best value for money on the internet today.
12. I am getting a new set of ACS plugs. They no longer make the ER plugs so the set of filters I have will become redundant. If anyone needs filters or earphones for your present ER plugs I am flogging them here. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/254847-acs-er-filters-headphones-for-your-custom-plugs/ I am licensed to flog on the forum
13. I am changing ear plugs. I am ordering a set of the newer ACS plugs. I have a pair of 9db, 15db and 25db filters. Each pair of filters £50 - (£80 new). The 9db ones are clear but I have drawn an orange line around them so that I could remember which were which. The 15 ones are a pair, one clear, one skin coloured (I lost the original and had to buy another single one - how I laughed). The 25 ones are clear. The 25 ones will not be available until my new set arrive which will probably be 2 weeks-ish) A pair of the in-ear headphones you plop into your ER molds which give you custom in-ear jobbies. - possibly T15 but I honestly cannot remember. Virtually unused. £ 80 or the earphones (£149.99 new) Need them you know you do.
14. I have an NS5 which is fine and dandy as a pretend DB. They come with strings which need changing to generate proper DB thud and the action needs jacking up. No bass guitar will do the DB thing (although the Rob Allen gets close in a mix) but the Uke Bass genre gets very close. Pick one up for less than £100 from Thomann http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_kahuna_clu_bass_fl.htm#bewertung and if you don't like it then send it back within 30 days. The Kala ones are better built but the sound is there and it is fine. Much lighter than a DB
15. Wood&Tronics used to make a very nice one which would fit your bill. No idea if they still do.
16. Just been using it in anger during a rehearsal. The stock strings are very light. They make TI Jazz Flats seem heavy duty, But I like them. I guess I should record a demo. I was going to mess with it to see if I got on with the frets/DB physical positioning and then shift it and get a full scale one done, but this is a lot of fun so I might keep it for a bit longer. It is interesting to swivel it around from vertical to slab angle and back for different bits of the song even, giving access to different techniques.
17. 3rd in line? As if that will ever happen, but you have to try
