In my mind a couple of nights ago it was going to be this but by now it might just be back to CAR with a matching headstock
Do it yourself. Just get some paint and brushes and copy this onto the bass: Simple!
Me+DIY= hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Sims Custom
That looks very fine indeed!
Would vinyl wrapping be good for this?
The idea is great but I would want a smooth all over thing.
Is there not such a person on here who did the Batman bass, I think still in the F/S section? I soppose it depends how you are defining pop-art.
I have no idea how I define pop-art, but I do know on further research that I meant modernism! Typical late night musing in bed before falling asleep. I am such an amateur.

It is totally the bomb with my DB. It really delivers lush extension downwards. The air shifting heft is pretty addictive. It is great with the plank but DB is where it shines for me. Redstriper seemed to enjoy it with the plank.
-
I have a body which is in line for a respray. I might like to have a pop art finish on it. Maybe not. But who would do such a thing and how much?
-
The composite ones are about 50lbs. Steve, if we got one each we could stack them. Imagine!
That would result in their cancelling each other. They would have to be in phase/polarity.
I would edit my original post to cover my stupidity but then your post would look odd, so I will leave it up so everyone can point and laugh at me. I only know which end of a soldering iron to use because one end is hotter than the other and it hurts when I get it wrong. Even then it is only to unsolder things. There is a reason I do not make anything apart from food. I would still love to try one though, given that it is presumably the same vibe as my 1x12" but bigger.

One speaker firing out of the front and one out of the back (presuming out of phase with the front one) and all ports firing out of the front. The guy who builds Audiokenisis cabs is very complementary about the concept here http://www.talkbass.com/threads/acme-2x12-prototype-test.890129/page-2/. I was playing through my 1x12" ACME yesterday and it is (for me) just so right. I would love the same but in bigger helpings

End of 19C Saxony bass. New 5 string neck. I have some naked pics of it somewhere that I will dig out. It polished up lovely with chrome polish and a buffer on my electric drill.

In my continuing theme (http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2429742) of mating Shuker bodies to other necks I picked this up http://basschat.co.u...uker-bass-body/ It is a single slab of solid woody goodnes. I bought in a fit of excitement but have by now decided what I need to do with it. It is a 4 string body but Dave (Nugget - Firecreek Basses) is going to rout the neck pocket out to take a 33" scale 5 string neck. I have a Shuker 5 Uberhorn with a 33" neck and really like it (having been Mr 35" scale for many years). The neck will be a 5 piece laminate quarter sawn maple neck. We discussed darker woods in there, but I really am not a huge fan of the stripy neck thing, but the 5 piece laminate will in theory make it very rigid enabling a B which will be part of the rest of the instrument rather than a sludgy afterthought. It will be a slim neck with a pretty flat Rosewood board. The headstock will be a scaled down MM style with a 3+2 arrangement. It will have Luminlay side markers but no front ones I have two Fralin J5 pickups which I have failed to sell on here so I will stick those in a couple of MM5 shells and have Dave rout the present pickup holes out. I have just bought some cheap and cheerful Gotoh-alike black machine heads on ebay and I have a 5 string bridge (17mm) with piezo saddles in my collection of parts which I saving for just the right occasion. I will have the option of hooking up the piezo later on. Who knows? There is also a D tuner in the parts bin so that will go on as well. The bridge will cover the 4 string gubbins at the front but the 4 holes will still be visible at the back. I really don't care I do not need another bass so this will be (nominally) my daughter's bass. This means I get to put it together and not feel guilty. I will flog the black early Tokai PJ in a J body she uses at the moment which should cover most of the cost. I hope.

I just tuned it down one tone and ignored the super bottom string to give you a taste of it at bottom A. Newtone strings on it cos I needed a set with a bottom F# which blended with the rest. I asked for round cores cos they are more flexible and I like that, so I am sure they could do ones which are tighter.
-
You could always tune a 6 string with a bottom F#. As it happens I have one for sale here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/247625-harley-benton-bz-6000-6-string-neck-through/page__hl__harley+benton__fromsearch__1 Pretty crass huh? But seriously, even if you don't want to go 6 string the Harley Benton BZ basses are 35" scale, neck through and cheap as chips. If you have ever bought anything from Thomann you can do a review and get 5 Euros off per review. You can do 10 reviews.

I have a 73P with a J neck. It is lush. For maximum 70'sness it also has a retrofitted brass nut!

I have a single 12" Acme and it is like swimming in a pool of chocolate with it's yummy LF extension. I would love a go on one of these http://www.acmebass....anwithcover.pdf

Some pics displaying my top camera phone skills, but you get the idea.
Hence the power of advertising and the rise of consumer capitalism. Having said that, I know for sure that my new Spector will increase the size of my testicles.
An excuse for new trousers then

We project what we want onto all sorts of things. Instruments, partners, cars, houses, TVs etc etc etc. If people have the £ for them then all power to them. If not, in a room with thrashing guitars and banging drums, the difference will not be apparent anyway. However, this pales into insignificance when you looks at what classical musos are shelling out and playing. http://www.beares.co...-sales/violins/ no prices? It would make you cry if you knew.

All that you have read about Bob in this thread is true

Great build etc etc. However, the main event for me is this picture. Your basses look lush and that case is a superb addition to the amp. Obv your rack is very cool as well, I just wish all amps came with a functional hard case. Very classy indeed!
