    Not for me, but a friend is looking to upgrade what he has and we feel the need to go on a roadtrip. You really do have to actually play and acoustic instrument to know if it is the one for you.

    The Ubass is great, but the Harley Benton version is there in terms of tone even if the fit and finish is not as good as the Kala. But it is A LOT cheaper at £92ish http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_kahuna_clu_bass.htm .

    The Band on the wall listing says Sharay is playing, but someone has asked him (as you do) and he said he is not coming. I have no doubt that whoever Mr Henry brings will deliver in ways I can only dream of doing, but it will not be Sharay.

    If he says he is not there, then he will more than likely not be there! Ho hum, I would have gone to see Mr Henry anyway so it is all good. And I am sure that anyone Mr Henry deems to be funky enough to play in his band will be funky enough for me

    The bridge assembly in question is a cheap and cheerful Ebay 5 string bridge which works surprisingly well. It does have floating saddles so I could experiment with putting something under those just to see. It would be a bodge, but that is my speciality There is no way of loading aftermarket saddles onto it sadly:( They are not Gotoh shaped. I figured that the pressure of under bridge plate or neck pocket would be too much, but it is good to actually have that confirmed. Thanks

    What has come through from this is that John himself suggests the 250k resistor as an option. If I still get no joy then I will put an either/or switch in and, as Hannah Montanna would say, get the best of both worlds But thanks everyone for your answers and PMs.

    I am a woodworking numpty. I REALLY have no idea. I have just finished a bass in Danish oil. It was so easy even I could do it. The surface was sanded clean and then I rubbed the oil on. And then it dried. Then I did it again. And then it dried. And then it was finished.

    I have piezo bridges on two of my basses. I fancy piezo action on another but the bridge will not accommodate it. Could I place an under saddle kind of strip between the bridge and body or even in the neck pocket? Would there be too much pressure? It would probably be as easy to buy a new bridge, but I was just wondering. I need to get out more. TIA.
