1.
Positive Grid do a nice mastering app which might be worth an experiment with to polish a live sound too
THAT is what I am talking about! Thanks
2. Anyone using the iPad to do front end DSP for their rigs? Parametric EQ + Multiband compression + Limiting etc etc etc
3. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/peavey-g-bass-/151433154310?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item23421e8f06 Pick up only.
4. I hugely enjoyed the Fearless as well as the Crazy 8 and anything PJB I plugged into. And trying Guts. And the GB into my cabs. I enjoyed it all really. The vibe was good. I did not enjoy not being able to slap but am grateful for the attempts to teach me.
5. I usually love to take credit for things I did not do, but in this case I cannot. All I did was make a suggestion. Roger actually did all the spade work and made it happen. If it was left up to me we would still be discussing venues. All thanks should henceforth by directed at Roger.
6. Roger warming up before everyone arrived.
7. A wall of PJB bassy goodness. It was a lot of good.

10. We had it all. Stripes and checks.
11. Fearless F112 disguised as a toy. It is not a toy.
12. I have paper and markers for info. I have stickers for name badges and I have some badges made up for the occasion. If you are not coming you are not cool enough for a badge.
13. Now THAT is tone!
14. It is a bit more comfortable for me with the lower tension, but I favour the lower tension anyway so that is personal preference for me. What was great was that I got that DBesque thud I was hoping for. Will it sound like a DB? No, it is not a DB, but in the thick of a mix when transport is an issue then I am more than happy with the thud it creates.
15. Look up retro169 on facebook. He has done a couple of nice finishes for me. Both relics, but he is cool to do no relics as well. Very reasonable. Cheaper if you strip it yourself.
16. Harpists - 90% of their time tuning and 10% of their time playing out of tune. My wife is a harpist, I could keep you up all night with harp jokes. What's the difference between a harp and a Harley Davidson? Both associated with angels, but you can tune a Harley. FWIW I have used an NS5 for a long time and only came to like it when I put a set of Honeys on it and jacked the action right up.
17.
As for a Mac, if he's studying at college, could they not lend him a laptop with logic pro loaded?
I work in a college and I can NEVER see that happening.
18.
He does get excited, doesn't he.
Is it that obvious?
19. I am sure we can rustle up some beginner bow stuff between us.
20. It also looks like the venue is excited to see us and will lay on some coffee stuff and a light buffet lunch thing. Hah! Suck on that bass guitarists!
21. Obv feel free to bring DB stuff to sell as well. I shall be bringing my extensive collection of geek DB books to shift (cos no one bought them on here).
22. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/243237-double-bass-bash-sun-5-oct-1100-500-risley-park-hotel-derby-road-risley-de72-3ss/ Discussion about activities on the event thread.
23. So, this is really happening. We could just hang out all day and talk about gut strings (and I am all for that) but perhaps people could note any topics that they would like some leading on and then if anyone else who is coming has any expertise in that area they could do a 20 minute slot maybe midway through the afternoon. I would love a 5 minute primer on slapping (not that any gig I have ever done has called for it, but ..... you know...... it looks kinda cool). I am sure there is stuff I could lead on and if anyone comes up with a request which matches my diminishing skill set I would be happy to step forward. I am not talking about 1.5 hour session with hand outs, just a more practical hands on kind of thing. It would be useful if people could print out a little crib sheet about what set up they have so that we can get a quick handle on bits we want to try and also how different bits interact with each other. Bass->strings->pickup->preamp->amp->speaker Bow -> rosin Any other ideas? Exciting times!
