    This is lots of fun with a nice rubbery tone and lush fluidity.

    I sent it to Bass Bros. Someone bought it. It turned out that the truss rod had snapped. So I took it back. This was mildly (!) disappointing on a brand new bass. But G&L have a 10 year warranty on their new instruments. I guess this stuff just happens now and again. So they just sent me a new neck. No sweat, no drama. As it happens it has a nicer fingerboard as well. I also had a white pickup cover made cos.....ummm.... I wanted one. However it is still not for me. It is not the bass, it is me. So it is up for sale again discounted to £1200. Like a five string P, but more I will do a picture with the white pickup cover in a moment.

    One of my new students today said that his favourite genre was Midwest Emo. I am going to have to do some research. I am happy to let all the dance genres and sub-genres wash over me but this was a challenge.

    Today is the first day of term in the college where I teach. We have a new student who is coming to do a year with us before becoming a full-time welder. He brought his bass in his home made case with him. It must be 30Kg. But he is about 6'6" and built like a mountain. I have never seen anything like it!

    I also clocked the Meatball. I bought one when they first came out. Once, and only once, I twiddled the knobs to such a position where it added "something" behind my main note. Some sort of filter event. It was just a fabulous sound. I knew I could get the same sound again because I was clearly a boss with programming. Yeah. I never found it again. I got so fed up that I flogged it on ebay but they had stopped making them by then. Some guy from the US paid me 3 times more than the new price. I wish I could recreate it.

    I remember lifting one of these in The Gallery. I actually laughed out loud, it was so light. Great sound as well. What a combo.

    Bows. A whole world of pain which has already been alluded to. I never believed it. Then I tried a really good bow. Then I believed it. Another aspect which has not yet been touched on is strings which bow well and strings which do not bow well. More pain. A really good bow playing Spirocores will never make that lush sound we hear in our heads. There are so many variables! Sorry.

    It is quite the machine. The 4 way selector switch makes an AWFUL lot of sense. The weight is great and the build quality is flawless.
