1. I would love this. Can I put my name down? I will need to get my head around picking it up, but will get someone to take it out of your place ASAP. I am coming down for the Wales/SA match but will have it out of your place well before then. Let me know where I am in the pecking order. Thanks Owen
2. I seem to have an opinion about everything on this bass. I have struggled with the ramp idea and stuff when designing basses. I hasten to add that I never actually do anything with my designs! If you want a ramp how about having a wooden casing which would house both pickups? It seems a more elegant solution. I have played with ramps and totally get the concept but they seem so "lumpy" and not part of the instrument. One casing covering the whole pickup area would tie it all in and give a simple clarity to a potentially cluttered area. Also get ears/buttons for the machine heads made from the same wood for continuity. I am getting too excited and need to go and lie down.
3.
Hmmm.... Presumably not the ones I've got.
It all became too exciting and I bought a different set as well, just to see. Tragic.
4. The grain is enough as it is. It does not need adorning. Do you give the straight grain on a violin front a sunburst finish? No. Opinionated? Moi?
5. I will have a spare pair of 5 string J pickups when the dust has settled on my build
6.
Seriously.....Is that the best chat up line you can come up with, ya smoothy
I was never very good with words However, on a brighter note, the gig bag has left the building
7. That will teach me to not do proper research! I will follow that with interest. Thanks
8. I am going through a Tele phase. I really fancy a walnut telecaster. While musing about this, I thought "hey, how about a 30" scale tele bass" but a replica of a tele guitar rather than the trad tele bass. The tele has a 25" scale. How weird would a scaled up by perhaps 20% tele (body and all) be? Obv a walnut one
9. I do not want to de-rail this thread, but I am looking for some active PA speakers for work (FE college doing live gigs with bands) and for church (different rigs) and would welcome opinions from those of you who seem to be using them in the wild. Thinking about QSC/Yamaha 12" + Sub offerings. Wondering about the Yamaha 15" but thinking perhaps a 15" + 1" comp driver might not be a happy combination but fancy the bombproofability that the 15" would offer for learning how to use PA systems. I am fully aware that teaching them how to not abuse stuff is part of my job, but you would be amazed at what the dance teacher does to the rig (and her ears) when my back is turned.

11. Every year I look at the pics and think "yeah, must go next year". I am doing the same now.
12. I have used both. I found having a quiver flapping around really uncomfortable, but I stand to play and move around quite a bit. I am really happy with the hook.
13.
This is the one I have been following. http://www.talkbass....art-1-a-672089/
That's the one. You can pass HOURS in there
14. There is a huge thread on TB with all the info you could ever want. I am going to flog my Kala if anyone wamts one. Not cos I do not rate it, but I have a 5 string now.
15. I am not convinced that the top on that is nicer than yours. Yes, it has a nice touch of flame, but the elegance of the uniformly tighter grain on yours is very classy. It is just a really honest piece of wood that needs no adornment. Is the control cavity pencil drawing on the front just for geographical purposes? You are not going through that top are you? Obv, it is your bass so do what you like!
16. It would be a crime to cover that wood in anything but a light tint.
17.
Church round here has Meyer installed...
I played through a Meyer rig once
18. Keep this info coming! Have you looked at the Yamaha DSR series? They seem to get a lot of love and they have a 15" (850w) + 2" (450w) model.
19. SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT THAT GUITAR WAS!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS THE INTERNET, PEOPLE!!!!!! I NEED INSTANT GRATIFICATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
20. I have not watched for ages but enjoyed this evening. What guitar was the lead guitarist with KOL playing? Gibson ES175 without a tailpiece? Quite oddly, I seem to have guitar GAS. Most unexpected.
21.
But what makes my jaw actually hang open is when I consider that, without formal theory training and whatnot, he had the maturity, at the tender age of 26, after playing bass for only 9 years, to engineer classical Stravinsky ideas into a pop song - Wherever I lay My Hat. It takes a particular type of artistic mind to do that. Whoever reckoned there are thousands like Pino Palladino - I think not.
To be fair, and I love Pino as much as anyone, but what he is playing there - although a quote from The Rite of Spring - is more than likely to be a quote of Jaco quoting Stravinsky. I have been listening to all of them for decades and only recently made the conection. http://tomkenrick.wordpress.com/category/jaco-pastorius/
22.
REALLY cool! Great idea. It would be a one off and I think I might be still waiting for my bass into 2014!
I had a Sei made once and came up with the idea too late. I had LEDs and Martin said he would have loved to do it if I had thought about it in time. Other than in music, timing is not one of my strong points!
23.
I'm wondering about an onboard tuner.
Multicolour/function LEDs in the neck for side dots. White for normal, but cbanging colour for using as tuner info. Red either side of the octave and green at the octave to denote in tune. It would be super cool but can you imagine the extra cost!?!
