Just provisionally sold a bass................ struggling............ to ................not................buy................one

I spoke to Barry last week and he said that the next shipment was due in but he was not expecting a fretted doobrie in on it. We both agreed that it is a pretty niche market! He did say that if one appeared then he would call me in. The reality is that I want to try one and if it works for me I want to commission a full sized 6 string one with a bottom F# so I cannot even pretend that I would be buying one

I have looked at Thomann and they have a B stock one but I just do not have the £2K I would need to put down just to try it.

Hi, I am in Tenby in South Wales for the week and the bass I have brought has a dying vol pot. Can anyone reccomed a tech who put a new pot in at the drop of a hat fairly locally? TIA

Again, thank you everyone. The tack cloth does not seem to be shifting it The whole air compressor thing looks attractive, but where do I find one? It feels like I am the only one in the gang who does not have one in the garage for just this sort of occasion.

If I had offcuts it would suggest that I had the skill to craft something like this myself. Sadly not

Thanks Harry. I tried hoovering with a brush attachment yesterday, but the masking tape thing makes a lot of sense.

I am sanding a black walnut body down ready for a tru oil finish. I have worked my way down to 1000 grit but have sawdust in the grain and cannot shift it. When I damp it down with water it "disappears" but will it do the same when I put Tru Oil on it? I just do not know and do not want to present myself with a project which needs to be re-sanded. I am enjoying it, but not that much! I have "washed" it with Meths which has helped, but it is still there. I need some advice on the sanding front. I have been through the grades and reached 1000 grit which I have been doing wet and dry. Also the curves around the seem to be a bit "cloudier" rather than the flat surfaces. Is this again just sawdust in the end grain? If so how to I get rid of it? TIA

I think they do, but I was under the impression that they were strictly mail order now. I could be wrong though
