  1. They are just super grunty. I realise that that is a super subjective way of putting it, and pretty meaningless really as anything could be grunty given enough gain at the front end. They have clarity and a cut which is quite unlike anything else I have tried. Like a full-throated roar if needed. When I say clarity I am not talking about shiny high frequencies. Wow, tone words! They mean nothing!
  2. MORE ROOM TO SLAP!!!!!! That is not going to happen. I have not actually had a chance to plug it in yet but from what I recall of Bongos, you are correct. I had to put the Vol/Bal on a dual concentric otherwise it would be a 4-pot plate. I like a front-loaded jack socket.
  3. They came out of a Bongo. I waited a long time to find some.
  4. Sorry, I should have noted, Mr Manton does lovely work!
  5. I picked up some Bongo electronics. I have owned some (!) Bongos in the past but found them uncomfortable when seated. But I loved the electronics. Our own @Manton Customs did the routing work and all that malarky. New scratchplate, control cavity, battery and pickups. The control knobs are all sorts of wrong, but I will source some better ones. The before pictures are here. Share my joy.
  6. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?item=175805626444&rt=nc&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l2562&_ssn=sine-effect The builder has options!
  7. Uuuuuurrrrghhhhhh..... Bargainous.......
  8. I am glad that I do not need another 4 string. This is lots and lots of good things in one place.
  9. All items + postage at cost. I have 3 volume pedals. 2 are in-line ones and one is one specifically to plug into the single volume pedal socket on a keyboard. I was quite disappointed about the keyboard only option but waited too long to try it so could not return it. The keys specific one is a Yamaha FC7 - £40 Korg KVP - 002 - £15 Roland EV5 - £15 - Sold. And it is actually an expression pedal! AB switch - £10 3 channel looper (not for that modern stuff where you record yourself and then play over it) - £40 Jazz tort guard - £10 5 string USA MM Sub black guard lined with copper tape - £10 5 string USA MM Sub white guard - £10 Geddy Lee's big book of bass - £35 John Entwhistle bass collection - £35 - Sold. 4 screw neck plate - £2
  10. Thanks. That was bargainous! It is a shame he has nothing else.
  11. I need to get out more. I clocked the rack at the top of the 1st picture and recognised it as Mr BF's from when I saw it at a bass bash probably 2 decades ago.
  12. Could you link me up to the ebay advert for the seller? I am wondering if he has many different cases. Ta.
  13. I used to have an NS 5 string. I also had a Peli-alike hard case for it. With in built wheels. I loved that case!
  14. I am fully aware that I have shown this before. It is on in the background while I do admin and I wanted to bump it to share the joy - but I could not find the original post. This is sublime bass playing.
  15. I played a Stick about 38 years ago. My head still hurts a bit. Talk about "this looks familiar, let's have a go. Oh wow, this is bonkers!". I take my hat off to anyone who plays them. My brain is not wired that way. I have a 6 which is tuned to bottom F#. It is lots of fun. Am I getting the full fundamental note? No chance. But I use it for last notes in songs and as long as the harmony above is all good then it provides a nice cushion for everyone else to sit on.
  16. You cannot spell Bass without a B. Outside now, 4 string people. I will fight you all.
  17. I seem to recall that my Realist pickup was much less fussy about what it went into than other pickups I have used.
  18. If your amp's input has a high enough impedance you are good to go. This is not always the case. And for the record, I am ALWAYS up for new gizmos.
  19. What is the secret of these? Is it just bigly magnets? Super duper windings? What gives? I have a 5 string L1000 with an MFD pickup. It brings the heft.
