1. Beedster is selling one http://basschat.co.uk/topic/196398-beedsters-getting-rid-of-all-of-my-bass-gear-thread-sabre-ray-status-ffl-necks-boogie-etc/
2. I have one of these and like Mart above, it has stayed while others have come and gone. Mine actually went once but I bought it back. It is a winning combination of superb clarity and virtually no weight.
3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=JAu2FjfenA0 I stole this from Bass Lady who has just joined.
4. Hi Rachel! I am well and teaching FE music in Bangor. Welcome aboard here. It is lethal! Gwilym Aethwy is here as well.
5. Hey Rachel, were you in the NYWO in the mid 80s by any chance? Whether you were or not, greetings from North Wales.
6. Some people do not like the idea of IEM cos they fall out sometimes, but getting one set of moulded plugs made is still cheaper than one decent wedge.
7. The Samson has one master input, but then has an extra input on each of 4 channels (also giving individual volume control and iirc bass and treble). Each of the 4 channels will drive 3 pairs of cans. So you can have 4 seperate mixes running for 12 sets of cans. The weight saving and lack of muddy sound running off the stage is too good to be true.
8. Samson headphone amp. £130 ish. Headphone extension leads and everyone brings their own in-ears. No mush from the stage monitors to worry about. MUCH less weight to carry about. Of course, biamplified 2x15 wedges would be lush, but try budget in ears. No, really.
9. I do not need another desk in my life, but that is an awful lot of desk for the money there!
10. We should be discussing who can pee highest against the wall, it would be much more useful.
11.
actually the octobans are to the side, on his left. They are clear acrylic and not so easy to see.
That's what I get for surfing before I can focus properly!
12. Nice, but the drummer needs to up his game. No octobans, no gong drum. Shocking
13. I used one MANY years ago. No matter what I did with it the output was PITYFUL. It got a lot louder when some sort of pressure was put on it. Mine followed the arch of the bridge with double sided sellotape. If it was given to you then I would experiment with putting one end under a bridge foot.
14. One of the comments on Youtube was that the sound has changed so much since those days. I presume that anyone who is going to go to the hassle of watching an hour long doc has half a clue about the subject under discussion. It has been a LONG time since I have been on the classical side, but if it has changed, what has changed?
15.
and a vid of Bakithi demoing some of the Graceland stuff. Great rhythm and touch.
That is some righteous tone right there!
16. I have an Audere preamp which has a kind of addictive low impedance switch on it. It is pretty addictive. I know nothing of the inside stuff. Is this do-able without using an Audere? Some sort of passive jiggery-pokery?
17. The impedance switch brings the grunt. Everyone should try one at least once.
18. Pic of the pickup. Pre-amp comes with black knobs.
19. Just watched the first 5 mins and had forgotten how bonkers it is to watch GK. I saw him live back in the day and he taught my teacher. Pretty startling technique right there.
20. Sorry, I cannot actually help with the OP, but happy Christmas to you as well!
21.
I'd buy it a drink first, a little small talk, compliment it on its looks and winning ways. Then hopefully on to dinner and who knows what else. But hey we all have different moves, you just gotta be yourself. You're a playa.
I am sad that I missed the opportunity to make this post
