  1. Thanks. They are the orginal pots and I have no reason to believe that the wiring has been put back wrongly. However, I have a recognised history of sorting out problems by changing something that had nothing to do with the problem. Then still having the problem and also a new part I did not need to spend money on.
  2. I always do.
  3. That truss rod cover (which I never look at) is aesthetically displeasing.
  4. The guitar has had so much abuse that it is entirely probable that these are not what Yamaha put on there.
  5. Spell bass without a B you cannot.
  6. My L1000 has had some work done. I suspect the pickup needs a rewind. But could someone confirm the control plate wiring is as it should be? TIA
  7. Thanks. I was struggling to make sense of them. It is a bolt on. I am not together enough as a guitarist for it to make a blind bit of difference. But it was strange to look at.
  8. I am butchering/finessing and old Yamaha I have. I have noticed that the pickup surround rings are angled. And not in the same direction. What does that mean and should they be angled the same? TIA

    Balls.

Sorry, I forgot to post final pictures. What a lightweight.
  10. I forgot to post final pictures. Such an amateur.
  11. Want to mess with FX? Don't want to spend a fortune while you work out what stuff will work for you? Want a good sounding floor box? Here it is.
  12. Mandocello. That is a word you do not hear often!
  13. Isn't it weird how taste changes? When those were a thing and being sold new I would have said "eurgh, no thanks". Now I look at it and think "tasty".
  14. You know what, I fancy these! PM'd you have been.
  15. I love watching stuff where I can clearly hear what is going on and understand what is going on, but still think "huh?".
  16. Maths is deeply unreliable. I knew this 50 years ago.
  17. There is absolutely no danger that I will be doing anything like this. Not because I would not like to.
  18. Nope. It actually enables you to raise the B string by a whole tone. This version has a series of levers. One end is attached to a strap button mounted through the neck plate the other end of that is attached to the ball end of the B string. By pressing the neck down I can get both Country AND Western.
  19. The reality is, that as long as you buy wisely (2nd hand) then you will be able to get your money out again when the time (inevitably) comes to get the next thing.
  20. Gruhns examined it, but it has never been taken apart. There is a fight going on in that sentence.
  21. I am glad that does not come in 5 string format.
  22. I will be happy to wobble about the inside of some chords. There will be no licking. It is also going to go into my "everyday" tele and then I will flog this one.
