3. http://www.acguitars.co.uk/shop/index.php?...amp;productId=4 At the moment mounted in a box for outboard use as well. It is indeed awsome, but I had an Audere and foolishly sold it. I miss the low Z switch.

There will be a small impedance matching buffer circuit in there as well. I might put an EQ circuit in at a later date.
11. So easy, so smooth!
12. Very cool indeed.
13. Thanks Daf. I took the bass up to my luthier (!) who is doing stuff to it and installing the spiros (thanks Gareth). I am no great fan of spiros but they will do for now and I might go for a set of the solo Inno string tuned to concert when I am happy with the setup of the instrument.
14. I am trawling through micro heads at the moment and have been thinking about the whole TC thing. Actual proper RMS measurements aside, I have been playing through a rig that has full-on speaker control/management (multiband compression and EQ for flatness) for 3 or 4 years now and have never been happier. All the big PA systems feature speaker controllers which optimise their rigs. The best sound I EVER got was through a d&b audio rig. I had more headroom than I ever thought possible. It was just a delight to play proper dynamics on my Double Bass and hear them be realised through the PA. You can bet your bottom dollar there was a lot of DSP doing it's funky thing there. I have never been anywhere near any TC bass kit and am not commenting one way or the other, just thinking aloud that it seems that TC are the first to bring DSP to the mainstream for us. The whole watts thing is........... ummm........... unfortunate, but the DSP thing is a welcome new flavour.
15. Mr Bassman, thanks for your kind offer, but the bass in question has bass guitar machine heads and it is making a real mess of whatever I put on at the moment. Have a set of 1/2 size 2nd hand spiros on the way and when I have got a new bridge set and all that I might put my present Honeys on from my DB and try a set of those solo Innovation ones tuned to concert pitch on my DB. I would not want to damage your D. I am thinking heat shrink on the Honeys at the machine head stress end to hold the wraps in, because I will need to snip them cos there is not much room on the machine heads. This would go for any 1/2 size strings as well.
16. Cool. I watched the vid with you on the 5 string for sale thread and it transpired that we have Billy Thompson in common!
17. I have just bought an Arco bass from the for sale forum. It is set up to be a 34" scale but I am messing with it to make it 38" scale which is, I believe, 1/2 size. What is the difference between "full size strings" and "1/2 size strings"? Is it just (obv) length or are there tensions and stuff involved? I am thinking about a set of Honeys cos I like them and need to do the Arco thing (otherwise it would be rockabilly all the way).
18. One set. New. £50 to your door.
19.
I also rescued my bow from my old flat and had a shot at arco in the house. It was a lot of fun (I even had a lapsed grade 8 cellist helping out)
'cellists - wanabee bassists, every last one of them. Talk about denial!
