1.
Yeah I'd go the fibre optic route as there's less messing around with solder joints and stuff, asides from only having one light draining the battery. You might find an entire array of LED's are much brighter than you'd need.
The fibre optic thing looks to be much more what I need, I don't want to be calling aircraft in to land
  2. Typical. I actually looked a ebay and totally missed them.
  3. I really fancy LEDs in my 5 string Uke bass. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=104007 Where do people buy them for a build? It's not like I am going to need many!
  4. Possibly a single pickup Lak. Was it blue? I need to get out more.
  5. I was aware of this programme some time ago but had forgotten about it. I just watched some recent stuff on here http://www.arte.tv/fr/Echappees-culturelle...ot/1494366.html it is the Later we all crave but will be destined to be denied.
  6.
Wel mamo damo! I wasn't aware that he was active on the Welsh language scene. That's brilliant - and a whole load of new stuff to put in the playlist! Thanks! I know he's a Cardiffian, but does he siarad dipyn bach o Cymraeg? Or is he so blummin good that he transcends barriers of language! Diolch byt! Hwyl.
Siarad Cymraeg? Dwn i ddim.. Pino speaks the international language of groove Croeso!
  7. I think that the main question here is, can I actually watch this programme regularly in the UK?
  8.
Add new stuff in if you can think of any. I play along to this playlist as a practise session!
The main album from his period on the Welsh language scene is actually available on Spotify, but as part of a 3cd compilation by the artist Endaf Emlyn. The songs to hunt out (just copy and paste them one at a time) are Paranoia Endaf Emlyn Un Nos ola' Leuad Endaf Emlyn Nol i'r Fro Endaf Emlyn Aros am y Dyn Endaf Emlyn Cerona Endaf Emlyn Dawnsionara Endaf Emlyn This one in particular for a rare actual solo between 2:38 and 2:56 with a frankly beguiling run out of it to lead into the following sax solo. I've been listening to it for over quarter of a century and I still get a real kick from it. Saff yn y Fro Endaf Emlyn Arwyr Estron Endaf Emlyn 'Rola Endaf Emlyn He is also featured on the tracks Ladi Wen Caryl Parry Jones Saf ar dy draed Caryl Parry Jones

I was quite proud of the way the headstock came out. I saw something similar on some green custom job in BP a few years before and thought "I'm having that".
  10. A long time ago I fancied a Tobias. I could not afford one. I also wanted a 5 string with a 35" scale. They were like hen's teeth. So I made one. Bernie G made me a neck - Birds Eye Maple, ebony board and abalone dots. I photocopied a Tobias picture and took it down to the woodyard with my one piece Ash body blank. The body was cut. The local luthier routed the necessary. I loaded it up with 2 x EMG 40J soapbars and an EMG bass/treble circuit (Vol/Bal/Stacked B+T). I finished the body with Ronseal all-in-one wood finish - "dries to the touch in 20 minutes" (it did). I had 6 screws in the neck joint because it was better - obv Ritter has been influenced by my lutherie. Bernie decided that the spec I had given him (Jazz spacing at the bridge) was not what I needed so made it thinner. I had bought the bridge already so had to move the saddles inward to get it to fit. The G is pretty close to the edge as you get higher up. So is the B, but, hey, who plays at the 14 fret on the B? Gohto bridge and machines inc a D tuner on the B. It is what it is and I will not pretend that it is in super nick or whatever, but I reckon it is worth £300. If it does not go then I will not be devestated because it holds quite a lot of sentimental value, but I simply have too many basses. When I can get my stupid computer to recognise the last import of pics I will upload them.
  11. Carriage is going to be approx £13.20 if that helps anyone.
  12. Lovely plucking hand action going on there. I will have to learn how to do that stuff. It would totally make up for my lame soloing.
  13.
I'd also suggest that if you're using a double bass the Big Baby is going to be easily loud enough
That's cool, but sometimes I like to rock out with my bass guitars as well Just putting the thread up as a discussion point really. But I still fancy a large cab that is bonkersly light
  14. The bracing thing seems to have been addresed in the thread I pointed to, but then again, it is all Greek to me. I just like the idea of carrying less weight
At a guess – and it is a complete guess – you may need to look again at the bracing. It will flex in a different manner to ply, setting up resonances in different areas of the sound spectrum. Far easier to trial and error a design with ply than Nidacore I'd think, and there's another possible big difference really – ply looks so much easier to work with. Could be wrong though. It's certainly an interesting material, and just out of curiosity I'd love to hear a Big One made from it. Got me thinking about domestic Hi-Fi- speakers or studio monitors now. Wonder if they do a transparent version of Nidacore? Edit: typo
15. The theory is that sonically it would not make a great deal of difference. I just like the idea of lifting less. My present cab is 80+ lbs so less really is more
  16.
Would love to see and hear more about the 5string, have thought about commissioning one myself so v v interested! Would fit in nicely with the other ukes in my band
I'm documenting it here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=104007&hl= I am quite excited
  17.
I'm struggling to see what difference it would make?
20Lbs ish?
