1. The bumpf on it is buried in here http://www.ctxd.com/items/chevin.pdf Essentially it is a bridged A500. It will not drive any lower than 8ohm but will happily chuck 700w into 8ohms all day long. It is slighty odd in that it is also happy to drive a 70v or 100v line system (kind of multiple speakers with special transformers to do things about the low impedance brought on by lots of speakers). However as far as we are concerned it is a little power pack of joy. Well it would be for me if it went to 4 ohms.
2. I bought this. Then I realised that my new cab is a 4ohm cab and this amp will not drive lower than 8ohms. I feel a bit stupid, but then I thought "never mind, I can share it with my good friends on BC and spread the love". Chevin research make proper power amps. It is small enough to go into a SKB shallow X rack. £170 delivered.
3. These are great. Really.
4. Andy, I feel your pain. Auditioning with your eyes instead of your ears as all of us who do not live close to any of the larger music shops is a total lottery. My answer will ultimately be to max out my credit card and order 3 or 4 candidates and mess with them with my own kit and then send all but one back under the distance selling regs which mean you can send anything back within a fortnight.
5. I have an ACME 12" fullrange on the way in from the US which might well do it for you. Certainly worth throwing into the mix as something to consider.
6.
Do you still have the Duncan pickup? I have the four string version, would you be interested in a trade?
Hey Rubis, I have pm'd you about a possible 3 way trade thing for the pick up.
7. It's all good. No. Really!
8.
Hi, I am looking for a 5 string fender jazz bass neck with a maple finger board. It can be with or with frets or finish I.e gloss, satin etc
PM
9. I think there might be a slight discount if you get in before they go out to shops. That was the vibe I got.
10. Mike said "The head is all "Hand Made" point to point on the pre-amp with 3 X 12AX7 tubes. At the moment I have five sold, and they are going through the workshop as we speak. 1) The 450w comes in at 8 Kg's and the 750w is 8.3 Kg's. 2) They are currently available direct (made to order) or will be in the retail stores by the end of Sept' this year. 3) The 450w is £1,249.00 Retail and the 750w is £1,349.00 Retail."
11.
[email protected]
What? Do my own research and use Google and all that stuff? That's ridiculous. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I'll phone him now
12. NO! REALLY!
13. Oooh! Oooh! I need size and weight specs NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW!
14. The real clincher here (and as someone else said, the guitarists often only suffer the rest of the band because they HAVE to have other people on stage with them) is that I'm sure it sounds a mess to the punters. There are activities which are great on your own, but really should not be shared in public. Yes I'm talking about KILLER guitar tone.
15.
They are very comfy to play must say!
Great to play standing up (poss slightly heavy, or I may be getting old), great sound and super versatile. The lower horn dug into my leg when sitting down. I managed to remember this by the time I was on my 3rd Bongo. Life is too short for me to have a bass that is not comfy when I sit. I love to sit.
16. I have no idea what I would do with it, but it is well fit!
17.
But not nearly as spiffnifficent as your leopardskinmongous doublebassage owen
I cannot deny it However, that JO right there is the bargain of the month.
18. Oooh! Luscious grain-age!
19. The Duncan pickup is still here. I am afraid that I would have no use for a 4 string version.
20. The preamp is NOT a Uretro. It is John East's take on a Music Man Pre.
21. Seymour Duncan Basslines SMB 5a. 5 string MM replacement pickup. No funky little lugs on it. £60 http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/bass...smb4a_5a_3coil/ Bartolini drop in replacement for an MTD Heir kind of thing. A huge improvement on the stock pickup. It is for 19mm spacing so will not plumb into a standard MM5. £80 East MM pre-amp, no plate, no knobs. £50 Need them you know you do
