I sold BB a Status Streamline. It was easy (see above). He then sold it back to me again. Most excellent.

My brother has this in his garage. It is obv old and rusty. He is guessing Carlsboro, but is resigned to being wrong. Can anyone throw any info at us? It does not really matter how it plays, it sounds like it looks DA BOMB.

That D-stop is superb. So simple, but so obvious. It is one of the major gripes I have with my NS5.

Bassists that sound like guitarists playing bass
The guy fronting the jam at The Spice Of Life in the West End on Tuesday is like that. He's a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar + bass + drums, but his approach to all three instruments is the same. LOOK AT ME! ME!! ME!!! Doesn't matter what else is happening on stage, who else is (supposed to be) soloing, what sort of song is being played. It's just incessant widdling and fills and fast runs and ... oh, you get the picture. I'm sure that he's technically very clever, but musically he's a complete dickhead.
"Yeah man, that's great. But what's your story? What are you saying?" - Lester Young -
If so could you PM me? I have an outstanding Paypal dispute going on and I hope someone might give me some info. I am not going to ask anyone to do anything, don't worry. I am just wondering if anyone gigs down there and might have noticed a new cymbal being used that I am yet to be paid for. Thanks.

Harland & Wollf shipyard on top of my own 30ft scaff tower which was part of a circle of 8 such towers each with it's own dedicated PA stack all rigged to an 8 way joy-stick on the PA. The dancers came down from the ceiling and threw chalk and earth at the audience. We were fearsomely loud and we got paid well. You have to love groundbreaking theatre

I live in a music shop desert. Has anyone plugged a bass into one of these yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNk9akSRy_Q

I do not know much about your EUB, but in my LONG journey in trying to get decent tone out of piezo pickups there are a couple of things I have learnt. 1. The pickup has to have a decent amount of pressure on it. 2. It needs a good pre-amp. If a piezo is not being buffered properly it will be scratchy and horrible and horrible. Did I mention horrible? I suspect (but am ready to be corrected) that one piezo pickup is the same as any other. I don't think that they differ like alnico, steel etc etc etc. I am almost certain that it the present pick up is mounted properly and it is seeing a pretty hefty impedance from a new preamp then you will be happy.

The whole 1234 thing is pretty do-able. The only time I struggled through years of doing classical stuff is one of the Enigma Variations (I forget which one, but it was the one which was kind of mirroring the ocean going liner engine) which was a much repeated slurred F to G sharp on the E string (I did it with 1 to 4 without shifting because otherwise there would have been a kind of sickly lurch!). Other than that it has never been an issue. My hands are fairly large, but not bonkersly so. I do not do as much classical stuff these days and will lapse into 1+4 for octaves (that is just laziness) but my intonation has never been an issue, or one for my pupils.
I'll +1 for the MultiComp - It's brilliant. However, I have to say the TC Electronic Nova Dynamics trumps it - and can be bought new, cheaper. I have both and use the TC in my big rig - and throw the Multicomp in my bass bag pocket for jamming, should I need it.
You were glowing about the TC C300 some time ago (I am not stalking you). How does the TC Electronic Nova Dynamics compare?

I do realise that this could be a contentious statement, but you could use 1 finger per semitone. It is probably easier to do this if you are kicked off by a teacher who espouses that technique. The thumb placement is key. There can be an element of pivot on the thumb.

4 to 5 string precision converter kit
Owen replied to Annoying Twit's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I have one of these. There is a real issue with pole pieces. It would work with blade magneted jazz pickups (EMG for instance) but the A on a P pick up is significantly louder because it passes over both halves of the pick up. Villex said that they would make me a P with blades in it with one coil shorter than the other so as to get a 3+2 thing going on. Unfprtunately by then I had promised to sell my P and could not go back on the deal. I miss it. -
