1. I have bought something. This needs to leave the building. Price drop from £350 to £300
2. Perhaps Dan has built the business and now sold it to retire or something. If I had a sucssesful business that I could sell and retire on the proceeds I know what I would do.
3.
Which kind are they? 1/2" or 3/8"? Clover or Y key? What colour?
D'oh! Clover. Chrome. If you can tell me where to measure I can tell you the measurements. Ta, like.
4.
trades or strictly sale? if trades, what have you got in mind?
Only trade would be a Status Streamline 5. Thanks
5. Why did I think I needed these? £50 Want them you know you do.
6. Indentation on side. I honestly never notice it, but there it is Ding on G machine head side. The last time I used a non locking multi-tool on an instrument I am in Bangor, North Wales. There is a D tuner on the B at the moment. I will take that off unless someone specifically wants to pay another £25 for it.
7. GAS ATTACKS! Lava Red (actually a strong orange) Bongo 5HH. It has the prerequisite worn bit at the top of the headstock. There is a very small ding on the back of the headstock. There is an indentation where the forearm rests. It is not through to the wood. I will try and take pics later. Priced accordingly. £750 Want it you know you do.
8.
One of the first basses I saw was a blond and was played live on TV, Buddy Holly and the Crickets on the Sunday Palladium show. That was something.
Formative moments - unbeatable. Mine came when watching Oscar Peterson and my dad saying that they were all just making it up on the spot. Little did he know about the changes My 'cello teacher booted me out and my next teacher offered me a double bass instead. Much more fun.
9. £300 inc rack kit It is a pre-amp/Super duper DI. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/U5/reviews http://www.talkbass.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/589 Bought here recently because I fancied trying it. It is an awsome bit of kit, but I cannot possibly justify having it and a Demeter pre at the same time. Want it you know you do.
10.
I knocked this up from a few lengths of wood at home. It seems to work very well.
Different colours for different outfits. Nice.
11.
JS Bach - the greatest writer of bass parts ever.
Word
12. I have just bought my 9 year old daughter a green and pink Fleabass (she chose the colours). She now wants this one as well!
13. Thomastic Jazz Rounds. HOW MUCH?!?!?!?! but I have had a set on for 3 years now and they still give up their mellow goodness.

Fleabass

I have just picked up a short scale one of these for my daughter for £220 off Ebay. It needs some setting up but it is a sound instrument and MUCH nicer than the Encore short scales (as it should be for costing that much more - but that is not always so). It looks like it will be a lot of fun. I have a spare set of Gotoh machines which can go on (not that it needs them, but they are sitting in my basement and she might as well have the use of them) and will prob eventually change the pick up when something suitable appears 2nd hand. It is very nice and with fitted gig bag included it is all good. I can see myself messing with putting a piezo in at some stage to make a pretend Rob Allen mouse
15.
That threw me as I suddenly realised that in the past I've regularly covered at least 3 songs called Peaches... and all of them good songs in their own right! Presidents of the USA The Stranglers Prince (OK that one doesn't have an 'es' on the end ) So which one was it Owen?
Stranglers. Big boys music.
16. The A team or Peaches. Peaches always sorts out the people who know what's good from the people who don't.
17. Now and again I do some work in a studio which is local to me. Like all of us I like to hear more of me than the communal foldback will allow me to have. I take a small mains powered desk with me, plug the cans feed into that as well as a link from the DI. I can then mix myself as loud as I like. Unfortunately this places a nasty buzz in other peoples cans. Is there some sort of isolatiing thingumywotsit-ma-bob I can get to make all this earth hum-ness go away?
18. Nothing is quite as confusing as a nice bow. The thought process is as follows - "It is a stick with hair on it. It seems very expensive. Why is everything 400% easier with it?"
