My bass is emitting the sound of distant thunder. Not in a good way. There seems to be a crackling that sounds like crackly pots. But this is when the volume is completely down. There is a VERY tiny bit of bleed through when the vols are off. The bass has 1 x EMG pick up and an EMG preamp but it also has a Piezo bridge with a Fishman preamp. Both these have independant vol controls. The noise is there in different rigs and with different leads. The noise is there with both volumes off and with either or both volumes on. I have changed the batteries. It has been dead quiet in all circumstances up till now. Any ideas?

When I started a long time ago I had an accountant. After 3 years I muttered to him that I felt I was paying too much tax. He said that he would look into it and I got a £2K rebate. I have done my own books since then. I think I need to ask around my local muso community and find a new accountant. Is it possible to put purchases made lets say on this coming Wednesday back into the tax year that has just finished? I realise that this is a stupid question, but I cannot stop myself from asking it.

I've been doing some research around the WWW as well and it turns out that in the recent past - but not now - you could claim for 100% of the cost of a computer against your tax bill. I would be new computered to the max if that was still applicable!

If I were to spend more than I think reasonable on a pair of custom moulded in-ear headphones are they tax deductable like an instrument is, or can I get a larger percentage of the outlay back? Just for clarification, I have self employed status.

Just remember, you are being paid to travel and you play for nothing. It should be OK then.

Lessons. However, if you practice in front of a mirror it will help A LOT.
