The only thing I might suggest is trying to find a similar 88 Stage II as a backup. Never go out with just one instrument. The statistics WILL catch up, sooner or later...
Am I the only person who has never (in 25 years) taken a back up out?

I ran into this today. http://www.foldingbass.com/

How important is theory and reading to you??
I don't disagree. Contrary to what a lot of session musicians think, we don't all want to be you!
Sometimes I don't want to be me, so we agree on both points. Feel the love people! -
I was having more fun than the punters. I also forgot to put my feet down again so landed on my knees, to deafening silence.

Reading is cool. It means I get paid. I realise that it is pretty vulgar to talk about money, but.............. you know................. I like to eat and have a warm place to sleep. "I want to be an actor" "Here is the script" "No, it's cool, just give me the DVD, I'll pick it up" -
D'OH! EMG 45 TW pick ups they are!

Have you categorically eliminated the fact that the wiring and/or the pots are fully functional and everything is soldered where it should be? I have not been able to ascertain whether all the kit is fully functional, because for me basses are like cars. When they work I use them. When they do not I pay someone to make them work. The guy who has been working on it has confirmed that the bridge pick-up is fine and dandy, but that the neck one is dodgy - he is guessing at some sort of damage to the earth. However he has had it for a LONG time and is fed up of looking at it so I am now turning to the oracles of all things tech I don't know the EMG range that well but a way to check this might be to insert and wire the pups in the other way around If I did this myself, the only guaranteed info I could come up with is that soldering irons hurt when you touch them with your fingers. I cuould just buy a new neck pick up. I could get Wizard to make me a pair of something lovely. I am just too tight to spend if I can mend.
I've already been in touch with owen about this, but for the benefit of others, I've had an EMG 40J go tits up like this - very weak signal. It was - in fact - knackered!
He has. The man is a star. You are probably right However, I don't understand why it functions fine when both are on. However, I am easily confused!

I have a pair of EMG DC45 pick ups, bought 2nd hand from the US back when we had some purchasing power. I am having a nightmare getting them to function. The bridge one works fine. When bridge and neck are on they work fine. When neck is on it's own it is the smallest nastiest sound ever, it sounds like bleed from another channel on a desk. I am open to the fact that it is knackered, but just wondered if anyone could throw some light on the situation before I spend more money getting my local guitar emporia to not get them working, again. TIA as usual in these circumstances. Owen

I saw a Gibson ES175 bass in The Gallery years ago. It was a thing of beauty.
Bass Centre recently had quite a few Tune basses in their sale, all seem to be gone now though, and they were korean.
I found them when I was googling for info originally. Korean built? Works for me!

BigRedX, you are the Tune Meister! However, you have confirmed that I am never going to pick one up for £500 2nd hand But at least I now have ANOTHER site to obsessively check on a regular basis. I do fancy this one though http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/ubox.cgi?...p&tid=list3

Wrong! They still make them. There goes that plan http://tuneguitars.com/store/wizmart.php?c...010301&lv=2

A long time ago when the Bass Center was in Wapping and I made an annual trip to check out what was moving and shaking in the bass universe (before the internet, kids!)(Can you imagine?) there was a high end Tune bass which I really fancied. It was a Tune Wood Bass. I cannot seem to find one and I am guessing they are out of production. Does anyone know of one available? Here is a link to a pic http://tuneguitars.com/tunestory/img/pdf/18.pdf Due to the fickle nature of the bass world for anything not having Fender on the headstock, I guess that they have low resale value by now, which is a good thing
I'm currently using a Silverstone amp cover for my Orange AD200B but I'm after something that gives a little more protection. Any recommendations? I'm a bit reluctant to go down the flightcase route as I imagine this will probably add about 10Kg to an amp that's already the best part of 35Kg. I've seen these Gator ones but I've got no idea what they're like, has anyone has any experience with these? - http://www.gatorcases.com/productsdetail.a...=17&PID=165
You could get a company like LeBlond who make drum cases to make a case that would fit, but have cut outs to use the amp's handles.

I use it and enjoy it. The only annoying thing is that SOME (not all by a long shot) members seem to feel that shipping to the UK is going to cause some kind of national disaster, and even if you are deep in negotiation, if someone from the US shows an interest then the item will magically become sold and you are out of the picture. Not cool.

I have a Japanese P which I have enjoyed for many years now. I took it to bits yesterday to put the hardware onto some other P neck and body I recently picked up (just to see if the body and neck would work as a bass). On the heel of the neck it says PBD -57. It is obviously meant to be a 57 kind of vibe with a 2 tone sunburst and a single ply scratchplate. I was just wondering if anyone could throw some more light on it's model origins? The serial number suggests '85 - '86. I would take pics, but it is in pieces at the mo'. TIA as usual

If we are thinking along TB lines, how about the "if you post a piece of kit for sale there must be a price" rule. Otherwise we are Ebay, and that exists already. I know I could just ignore it.
