Custom pickups?

Thanks y'all! I emailed Andy at Wizard but he said he can do EMG 35 + 40 but not 45 I have emailed Villex and they can help, I will look for Jim Fleeting.
  2. I have a bass which I love dearly, but fancy a change of pickups. At the moment I have a pair of EMG 45TW in it, but fancy a more organic passive vibe. (http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=29803) The problem is that the pickups are 6 string size, but the bass is a 5 string. With EMGs it makes no odds because the magnet is a blade all the way across the pick up so spacing is not an issue. Unfortunately this means that I need a pickup the same size as a 45TW so I cannot drop any normal 45TW sized pickup in because the pole pieces will be in the wrong place. Can anyone suggest a manufacturer who might be able to knock something up for me. Wizard do not do that size TIA as ever.
  3.
got any pickup dimensions mate?
4.52" X 1.48"
  4. I am thinking of changing these, due to having too many basses with EMGs. If anyone wants them then I will change them. If not I will not £210 for a pair new. These are virtually new and very clean cosmetically. £105 to your door. Inside the EMG-45TW pickup are both single and dual-coil pickups, each with its own output. The single-coil mode is a new version of our EMG-J pickup built in the CS (ceramic and steel). The dual-coil mode is our popular CS dual-coil consisting of two coils opposite one another creating a pickup similar to model 45CS. A push/pull volume (or tone) pot allows you to change from the clarity of a single-coil to the fatness of a dual-coil. The 45TW can be used with any of EMG's tone enhancing circuits on either pickup output. This pickup uses a 45 Extended housing that is 4.5 inches (115mm). Some discussion about them on TB http://www.talkbass.com/forum/archive/inde...p/t-139484.html Want them you know you do!
  5. Do you have a model number for the MD player? Is is a 1U rackmount? Ta.
  6. It is lush! My '66 came with a huge "F" stamped on the bridge cover. No idea if my cover is original or not, but the cover with this one is blank. It lush even without an "F" cover Here is a link to an auction for a 63 cover with an "F" http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1963-FENDER-JAZZ-BAS...id=p3286.c0.m14
He was famous before he was famous....if you know what I mean people spoke highly of him years and years ago.
We were enjoying him on the Welsh language scene even before he was famous before being famous. He used to gig in a hall that was 250 meters from my front door in Bangor
  9. At the risk of repeating myself - this is where he was before he was famous - http://www.myspace.com/pinopalladino

  11.
Thanks Owen, The Behringer amp that I had in mind is identical to a Sansom one I've seen, except for a flashier case !! I always thought Behringer was pretty good for the price ?
I teach on a Music course. We bought a bunch of Behringer desks, big and small. About 6 of them. None of them work anymore. Price is only good if you don't have to shell out again. Just sharing my experience.
  12. I have used the hard wired technique for a long time. It is great and much easier to carry than wedges I use a Samson headphone amp which has been rock solid. I have never used a piece of Behringer kit which has lasted. Just my 2p.
Hi all, Hope you can help me with some advice on this subject.... Have just joined a Blues Brothers Show Band in the London area and whilst we have a massive PA system & desk, we are severely lacking in 'on stage Monitoring' The sound engineer is keen to get powered floor monitors, but the band members would prefer In Ear !! I know most of the pro's and cons regarding 'in ear' v 'floor' and having used 'In ear' before that’s the way I want to go. My plan is to have the band (who are static) kitted out with a 'wired In-ear' system via 2 x 4 channel Headphone pre-amps (Behringher???) fed from the mixer output with one each side of the drum kit for the band & horn sections. Jake & Elwood would use a wireless system (Trantec ???) . Have you had any experience with this type of set up ? and is there any specialist shops within a 50 mile radius of central London that you could recommend where we could try this type of system out. We have a number of prestigious gigs coming up and need to get this sorted straight away !! Cheers.. Dusty
13.
£145 for £3000 of cover I have x6 that level of cover for my basses PLUS all of my assorted music amplification, a couple of guitars, 1 bass insured for £2200 away from the home AND all of my contents up to £40k for about the same premium... Liverpool Victoria through Frizzell. Maybe I'm missing something but my insurers seem happy to cover and all I had to do was get a music shop to give me a written quotation for my basses to be replaced new for old. However (touch wood), I've never made a claim in 20+ years of having insurance.
Is that covering you for professional use of kit? That is, actually taking money for the gig? If not then if something goes wrong and they find out you are taking £ for the gig they will not pay you. Is that whichever bass you happen to have out of the house at the time or one specific bass? I'm not asking aggressively here, I have not been insured for a long time and I really need to get it set up again. When I was insured I got pay outs for a stolen keyboard and a dropped double bass (don't ask) with no problems.
  14.
OK - thnaks Owen.... that's just the one set of D'Walls and the Black diamonds left; plus the Ashbory & Guitar Strings.
Cool. I can now offer 2 x Dingwall top C strings for the cost of sending them to anyone who wants them. I will never play that high on principle
  15. I will take two of the Dingwall sets if you still have them. PM me your PP. Cheers
  16. I used to have a Riverhead Steinberger-a-like. If this was one of those I was going to have to buy it.
  17. The pre-amp is SO important in getting a decent sound from a piezo pick-up. As for mics to FOH, try an Audio Technica ATM350. Not overly expensive and really great to my ears (obv ymmv).
  18. Abe played on "Chips" the cop show from the 70's. Class beyond.
