Tune Wood Bass

BigRedX, you are the Tune Meister! However, you have confirmed that I am never going to pick one up for £500 2nd hand But at least I now have ANOTHER site to obsessively check on a regular basis. I do fancy this one though http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/ubox.cgi?...p&tid=list3

Wrong! They still make them. There goes that plan http://tuneguitars.com/store/wizmart.php?c...010301&lv=2
  3. A long time ago when the Bass Center was in Wapping and I made an annual trip to check out what was moving and shaking in the bass universe (before the internet, kids!)(Can you imagine?) there was a high end Tune bass which I really fancied. It was a Tune Wood Bass. I cannot seem to find one and I am guessing they are out of production. Does anyone know of one available? Here is a link to a pic http://tuneguitars.com/tunestory/img/pdf/18.pdf Due to the fickle nature of the bass world for anything not having Fender on the headstock, I guess that they have low resale value by now, which is a good thing
  4. If this had EBS on it, people would be selling their grannies to get the money to buy it.

    Hup!
  7.
I'm currently using a Silverstone amp cover for my Orange AD200B but I'm after something that gives a little more protection. Any recommendations? I'm a bit reluctant to go down the flightcase route as I imagine this will probably add about 10Kg to an amp that's already the best part of 35Kg. I've seen these Gator ones but I've got no idea what they're like, has anyone has any experience with these? - http://www.gatorcases.com/productsdetail.a...=17&PID=165
You could get a company like LeBlond who make drum cases to make a case that would fit, but have cut outs to use the amp's handles.
  8. I use it and enjoy it. The only annoying thing is that SOME (not all by a long shot) members seem to feel that shipping to the UK is going to cause some kind of national disaster, and even if you are deep in negotiation, if someone from the US shows an interest then the item will magically become sold and you are out of the picture. Not cool.
  9. I have a Japanese P which I have enjoyed for many years now. I took it to bits yesterday to put the hardware onto some other P neck and body I recently picked up (just to see if the body and neck would work as a bass). On the heel of the neck it says PBD -57. It is obviously meant to be a 57 kind of vibe with a 2 tone sunburst and a single ply scratchplate. I was just wondering if anyone could throw some more light on it's model origins? The serial number suggests '85 - '86. I would take pics, but it is in pieces at the mo'. TIA as usual
  10. If we are thinking along TB lines, how about the "if you post a piece of kit for sale there must be a price" rule. Otherwise we are Ebay, and that exists already. I know I could just ignore it.
  11.
Man I've wanted one for so long and could afford to buy it if I wasn't going on my stupid US tour
Touring the US is SUCH a drag

  14. I should have mentioned that the rosewood board has gone. The bass is as you see it in the pics (but with white s/plate thrown in as well).
  15.
Hi Owen, Im not sure if this bass is still up for grabs but I'd be very interested in it. Just wondering what the story would be with collection or shipping...I'm in Dublin which might be a bit of a hassle?
Dublin is never a hassle. It is still here and it is the 21st century - shipping EVERYWHERE is easy! As it happens I am half an hour from Holyhead so you are probably as close as anyone to me I can get you a shipping quote if you like.

Went to wife's friends place last nite. Dude showed me some recordings of Manu Katché's 'one shot not'. Essentially a better version of Later with Jools but without the boogie woogie piano and added bonus of rehearsals like this with Pino, Manu and Dominic Miller. The range of skills and the complete range of music that Pino can play is probably without equal in the bass world. Truely multidimensional.
They've gone Did anyone rip them?
  17. To avoid any confusion, I'm guessing that 8ohm bridged gives 400w mono output, not per channel. It will run 400w into one cab at 8ohms. Any more and it will fry itself and the magic smoke will come out.

  19.
I'm actually doing this myself. I bought a bass cheap off the bay for about £100. The table and neck are off at this stage. I'm trying to source hide glue, cleats and someone to make a steel insert for the neck attachement. It hasn't been easy but for the price of the bass it's a great education. You can follow it here. Another alternative is getting a part assembled (white) one from a dealer in China. That would make it much easier to sort out your method of neck attchement. There is also a load of info on TB if you dig around. My methods probably make luthiers cringe but, hey, how do you learn? If it all works in the end then fantastic. If it doesn't, then I'm out £100.
I like your style! Consider me subscribed
