1. 2 sets of 6 string sets. £18 each delivered. They will work on basses which are not Dingwall 30 - 45 -etc - 130 Trade for a set of 5 string Labella plastic tapewounds - yes I know, from one extreme to the other
2. If this was a 5 I would be in real trouble.
3.
If only this was a four string. It's bloody gorgeous and must sound amazing but I just cant get along with fivers.
I could saw a bit off
4. Piezos are brilliant IF you have the right pre-amp for them. Otherwise they are a TOTAL waste of time. Piezos in a MM Bongo = pants Piezos in a Bolin NS5 = totally lush
5. I played this exact combination at a gig before the summer. It was lush beyond and MAHOOOOOSIVELY loud. This is a bargain.
6.
I'm being thick here!?!?! So you got a hunk of wood and carved the body yourself???
The body was made by a local luthier who did all the technical stuff and then I did the grunt sanding work I have my eyes on another bass now and will send this to your door for £550
7.
Oh.... So what bass did the body come from lol. Because it looks fantastic.
<sigh> Quote from 1st post - "A long time ago I bought a Stingray 5 (on a 4 hour detour on my honeymoon. How my new wife laughed!). I then bought a MM fretless neck for it. I then made a template from the body (ash + luscious birds eye maple 1/4" cap with a subtle rosewood veneer coachline between both) and bolted the the fretless neck to that and flogged the original Ray 5." In case anyone thinks that I am getting arsey here, I know Mr 252 very well
8. The only "proper" bit the neckplate
9. The reality is that I would love £650, but it is such an odball to price that I just don't know if that would fly. I was honestly expecting to part it out, and that is kind of about what it would come to. If someone wants to give me £650 then I would be happy to ship it to their door. I am in Bangor, North Wales.
10. It's not SUPER cheap, but the prices of 2nd hand stuff are still comparable with 2nd hand stuff here, so it is finding what I want really.
11. I'm looking at some US based basses. I used to be able to get stuff in for approx $120 actual shipping. Quotes are coming up at $500 - $600 at the moment. Does anyone have any lines on decent cheaper couriers? I am au fait with the whole tax/import thing. TIA
12. There are things that people do on bass which are obviously great but don't do it FOR ME. I bet what I play would not do it for a lot of people as well. However - that drummer's cymbal work at the beginnig is FABULOUS!
13. If this somehow is not sold then put me in line.
14. >to confirm, your selling a bass with an ash with birdseye maple top body with a fretted status neck?? Yep!
15. Status MM5 neck with ultralites and a D tuner drilled for 6 bolt absolutely standard MM fitting. £340 new - that is what the bare undrilled neck costs from Status. This has (fitted by Status) Hipshot licenced Ultralite machine heads from a Lak Skyline and a US D-tuner and was drilled by Status for body fiitting - that all added up to another £200. £340 as it is 2 x Nordstrand MM5.3 - £99 new each. £60 each . Badass V slotted for MM5 spacing - £50 East MM-preamp with sweepable mid £140 new - £80.
16. Price drop bump. I need to shift these as there are a pair of Villex pick ups waiting for me.
17. Truly great hair on the interviewer. Of course, I never had comedy hair back in the day
18.
if they were only 40-TWs I would have slapped them on my fretless...
A bit of judicious routing and you would be away!
19.
Yeah Steve and I really do love this bass too but I'll never gig with it (Skjold for that) and I'm past the stage of just buying anything I like without somehow being able to pay for it!
That's crazy talk and part of the reason the economy is in such a mess. Shame on you.

Custom pickups?

Thanks y'all! I emailed Andy at Wizard but he said he can do EMG 35 + 40 but not 45 I have emailed Villex and they can help, I will look for Jim Fleeting.
21. I have a bass which I love dearly, but fancy a change of pickups. At the moment I have a pair of EMG 45TW in it, but fancy a more organic passive vibe. (http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=29803) The problem is that the pickups are 6 string size, but the bass is a 5 string. With EMGs it makes no odds because the magnet is a blade all the way across the pick up so spacing is not an issue. Unfortunately this means that I need a pickup the same size as a 45TW so I cannot drop any normal 45TW sized pickup in because the pole pieces will be in the wrong place. Can anyone suggest a manufacturer who might be able to knock something up for me. Wizard do not do that size TIA as ever.
22.
got any pickup dimensions mate?
4.52" X 1.48"
23. I am thinking of changing these, due to having too many basses with EMGs. If anyone wants them then I will change them. If not I will not £210 for a pair new. These are virtually new and very clean cosmetically. £105 to your door. Inside the EMG-45TW pickup are both single and dual-coil pickups, each with its own output. The single-coil mode is a new version of our EMG-J pickup built in the CS (ceramic and steel). The dual-coil mode is our popular CS dual-coil consisting of two coils opposite one another creating a pickup similar to model 45CS. A push/pull volume (or tone) pot allows you to change from the clarity of a single-coil to the fatness of a dual-coil. The 45TW can be used with any of EMG's tone enhancing circuits on either pickup output. This pickup uses a 45 Extended housing that is 4.5 inches (115mm). Some discussion about them on TB http://www.talkbass.com/forum/archive/inde...p/t-139484.html Want them you know you do!
