Does this do a sort of auto active moving EQ jobbie or just presets?

I lucked out and my first P was a 73 bitsa with an A neck. A Bravewood P came up here. It was a fabulous thing. It scratched all the same itches that my 66J did but I could never get comfy on it. I had never taken in the A/B/C nut width thing and it took me a few months to work it out. C widths are not for me!

It sounds like you are looking for the ToneX then. There is a thread on TB about them.

I have been close to the QC thing a couple of times. But realised that for what I do it would be MAHOOOOSIVE overkill. The ToneX is as guitar oriented as everything else is, but there are captures of nice things out there. I will try the Noble once I work out how to do it. This is not saying it is hard, I have just not tried yet.

I could do some SERIOUS damage with a flap wheel and an electric drill! I have never really thought about this, but I did have a bass once which had REALLY crisp fretboard edges. I actually really liked it. It felt clean and defined. Obviously, I sold it. If anyone has my red Sei J5, I would like it back.

I had not clocked that you had mentioned the audience singing. I was enjoying it and then BVs happened. You were hidden behind Katy so I could not see you on the mic but it had to be you because none of the others were singing. I was just wondering who was going to break it to you that BVs were just not for you

My problem is that I sometimes play with the world's greatest Rhodes player (this is arguable, but he is awesome). I once watched him selling a bottom of the pile Yamaha home keyboard 30 years ago. He made the Rhodes on it sound like the real thing. It was so unfair to the people he was selling to - there is no way they would EVER manage to get that performance out of it. I am at peace with the noise I make on bass, but every time I fancy a bit of Rhodes improvement, I just think "what is the point - John will always trump me"
