  1. If it was not metallic orange with a matching headstock, I would consider it. I am so shallow, I will confess publically that I bought it primarily for the colour. The fact that is is nice to play and sounds good is a double bonus.
  2. It's the neck. Just fabulous. I have actually owned a full fat US one back in the day but was not as neck aware at the time so missed it. I am kicking myself now.
  3. Are there finer straps out there? Not that I have seen. I would have it but I have 4 already.
  4. It was. And discussing basses is better than watching the rugby at the moment
  5. One appeared on Ebay and went for £350 recently. Bargainous. But they are really nice and people hold onto them.
  6. It all looks so easy I am fully aware that it is not!
  7. I can certainly find the right length pots and am I happy with soldering. For "I" in that sentence, read "my mate, the tech".
  8. Thanks Maude. I do like a bit of Chrome-age. I think I will do it. I am well past caring abou resale
  9. Does anyone have a double humbucker 5 String Bongo scratchplate they could scan for me? TIA.
  10. Ummmmmm......I don't think I am.
  11. No. But the mixer might be packed away whereas the interface will be ready to go.
  12. I have no idea. But whoever has an idea will want pictures!
  13. Fair play to MK, he is a total machine and rocking cool flares. Goals right there.
  14. I own a six string. It makes my head spin. If anyone wants a top quality Overwater 6er give me a nod.
  15. I went to see the local luthier who owns a cnc machine today. He reckons he can CNC a drop on replacement. Time will tell. If so, I guess he could fabricate any kind of tuner button. Could be a market for him there.
  16. So, as I lay in bed this morning I started thinking about this again. It strikes me that I could get away with not having the central hole cut to mate to the shaft directly - i.e. curved and flat in different sections. A hole that would match the overall circumfrance of the shaft could then be secured by two grub screws, one onto a flat face and the other anywhere apart from directly opposite it. Sadowsky knobs are attached by two grub screws and are remarkably stable. I have thought of 3 screws at different points from the side, but suspect that 2 would do. Obviously there would be the screw through the end as well. Even though that might not actually be necessary. I don't know and am open to suggestion here. My reasoning is that fabrication would be a whole lot easier. It would not be as elegant a build, but I think the trade off might be worth it. Of course, the CNC programme might be sitting there thinking "why bother not doing it right with one screw, it is easy for me". I would appreciate your thoughts.
  17. Has Basschat ever been expressed so succinctly?

    No guts, no glory!
  19. If you like the Bongo then get hold of a Behringer DI box, one of the silver ones. There are two 20dB pads on them which you could use to damp down the Bongo output. I used to think that going from 9v to 18v would bring THE TOOOOOONE!!! I paid handsomely to route another 9v hole in my bass so that my EMG eq ran at 18v. Was there any discernable real world difference? Nope.

Software 2.0 is GOOOOOO!!!!!! I do not have one (yet).
  21. Thanks Richard. It is of course the problem that only rears it's head as we launch into a service and then I push it away until the next crisis point. I have multitracked a couple of services and need to get in there duringn the week. But life is busy. I will check out your suggestions and would welcome any further hints.
