  1. This is the kind of thing I was thinking of but could not bring into focus in my head. Ta. It is an Overwater guitar built in 1980. I have no idea what is in there. I will have a look at it on Monday.
  2. A friend is selling a guitar with a truss rod which "turns in place and doesn't do anything". I fancy it, but that info might as well be written in Greek before Google Translate existed as far as I am concerned. Obviously I am not expecting anyone to tell me exactly what is wrong - but what might I be looking at? Someone who did some work on it did say the truss rod was fragile before it stopped functioning. I am aware that this is like asking what shade of black my t shirt is when the light is off. I am also aware that I will have come to my senses by tomorrow morning. But, as we all know, it is fun to think about these things.
  3. Ah. Not being one of his long standing customers will rule me out of having him dona couple of setups for me. I had also heard very good things.
  4. Is Ged Green taking work on? His website suggests not.
  5. Sorry, it would be a 5 hour trip for me to get there! But thanks for the offer.
  6. I am glad I did not see that. I find it hard to say no to sparkly and matching headstocks.
  7. I did the experiment I had always wanted to do with a P. I drilled the headstock, put an extra machine head on and replaced the bridge with a tight spaced 5 set up. For the record, the nut end was fine. The bridge end was not. It is just as well I resisted the temptation to do it with my Bravewood P the year before.
  8. Jim Bergantino was discussing updating features on the B|amp on TB. I suggested that the 3 memory slots included the FX loop. He did it. I am available for R+D work.
  9. I would like to take the Boss if it is still available.
  10. Anyone tried these? I am intrigued. https://www.bassgearmag.com/dogal-hellborg-signature-pure-nickel-stranded-core-round-wound-bass-strings-jh171-035-052-072-102-jh1715s-035-052-072-102-120/
  11. I am certain that a passive WAV can make a fine sound. It is not going to sound like this though. I am not saying that negatively or positively. It is just a different pickup system.
  12. Don't get me wrong, I can think of other ways
  13. The machine heads on the OP bass are a bold statement!
  14. I used to put my DB through a Berg 6x10. As Nige Kennedy used to say - monster.
  15. I am thinking of our Carol Service for this year. If we have a "standard" carol service it can be great for believers, but for non-believers they can be in, hear some vaguely familiar songs and readings and just let it wash over them. If we throw something in from the left field then it could turn some heads. I am not looking for a congregation sing thing - it is not as if the world is short of good Carols. I am looking for some features. So, does anyone have any suggestions? This has been suggested. I have not actually watched it yet so make no comment. This is one I have used in the past.
  16. You are making this with robots?!? Proper exciting!
  17. The CLF research models do a good job of that.
  18. It is a truth universally acknowledged that you cannot spell bass without a B.
  19. I opened up the bass with the Fralins and remebered that their orientation was funky to get the string spacing. Squashing those at and angle and a P pickup into 2 Soapbar cases would not be an option. The string spacing on the bass needing new pickups is the same as this one. But I have exhausted the possibilites so can carry on with no regrets. If only I was this thorough in the rest of my life.
  20. If I was shopping now then I would be looking at this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155255113590?hash=item2425ed0776:g:yykAAOSwjRxjbV2o&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoAKs7wKBsOYuWusEFR5IQ8pb%2F7wL9DT3VgEPGODrEadEkrIQnEbahCBMx%2B2eNIRe%2Fox2csl%2FnAS%2BV8x0Cicd1HaL5sTnFXh5tcAXpUtp22c3DgPl%2BHEF2Idk2QRJmnQQe%2FqVhZPooRxR1Jsn7%2FmEPP6m1hJ3ngB18xmxNmsnGJe6ivVkcUVjiDyOfS9hZ0OOJDXhgn7m0g%2B7tB%2FpGAP6dPQ%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8K67aGQYQ
