SSL goodness for less money. I particulalry like their saturator. It is just so very musical.
I have a bunch of hangers on the wall. I fancy a change. I am thinking an 8 bass/guitar stand in a cupboard. But I am open to ideas. What are people using? Some nice long but shallow drawers look cool, but are mind bendingly expensive.
We bought some nice QSC active wooden cabs at work. The KW112 is really very nice. I got very excited about plugging my Hellborg preamp into the KW118 (1Kw 18" active sub)/KW112 combo. I was expecting to be washed by waves of LF goodness. It was massively underwhelming.
FWIW I have bass with two Smith type pickups. I have two push pull vol pots. I never use the "weaker" settings. I always fall into the trap of having the most options. And then I find the beefiest settings and stay with it.
I have one of these. It is the absolute bomb. No need to pack it for a courier. Slap a label on it and off it goes. If it can cope with aircraft baggage handlers (it can) then it cope with couriers (it can).
To play for the song shows true ability. Overplaying is easy. Not that I do it well, but I sure can overplay. Less is ALWAYS more.
My favourite ever soundcheck line came from one of my students soundchecking another. Player student went up and gave it the max Flea. Sound engineer student laconically reached over to the talk back mike and said "Stop it, play me something I can hear".
