  1. That's where that went! It was certainly from the days before lightweight was a thing.
  2. That's a short scale P, right?
  3. To be fair, in a 7 minute CCW vid, the first 2 minutes are sub-Clannad "wooooowooo" and the last 2 minutes are a repeated tag with someone giving it their max on the vocal front. Not the max, but their max. During lockdown we had a bunch of these in our online services which were a run of videos at the begining. We usually managed 30 seconds before moving on to the next video. I often wonder what people are hearing that I am missing.
  4. You could think about it as keeping the alphabet pure. You need to go letter by letter. If the note before it in the scale is an A then it would be a Bb. If the note before it was a G# then it would be an A#. If the note above it was a C then it would be a Bb. Reading a G# going to a Bb alphabet wise would suggest some kind of 3rd if you think about it on linear alphabet from. But we know it could not be any sort of 3rd cos there is only a tone between them. So the notes are named and notated in context with what is around them. It is a notation thing really. Notation is the least bad way we have.
  5. Very little of the "classical" ensemble oeuvre is played from memory. When I say very little, I mean that I have literally never seen it. The nature of things is that there will be maybe 3 full rehearsals of 3 hours each (max, and that is a massive luxury) and then it is concert o'clock. There is simply no time to learn stuff like that. Pro players have fearsome sight reading skills. It is part of their training.
  6. Discount cos something has come up. You all know how it is. I have a slight obsession with straps. Do I actually need this many? Not even close. I need some, so I will let the market decide and keep 2 or 3. Postage will be whatever it will be when I get to the PO. You will pay me for the strap (or rack) (or Session Cake), I will post it and tell you what postage was. Then you will PP F+F me the postage costs because we are cool that way. All strap locks will be taken off. Why do I have 19"rack cases? This is worth WAY more than £50, but that is what I paid Mr Binky for it a month ago. I would love to turn a PHAT profit on it but it would be uncool. Very little is worse than being uncool. Yamaha Session Cake SC-01 20 Do you remember when these were being sold really cheap and we all thought "MUST HAVE". Yeah. I have not even taken it out of the plastic. SKB 3U Shallow X rack with vent holes drilled 50 I have more balanced AND unbalanced Jack to XLR adapter leads than anyone would ever need. All kosher Neutrik plugs. £5.50 each I reserve the right to find other things I do not need. I hope my wife does not read this. Here is a lnk to the posh SKB 2U rack Here is a link to something else I would love to need but I cannot play it in a way that does not make me wince. I will proabably dive into my excessively large collection of gig bags soon. Lots of stuff there I do not need.
  7. Just for lols, I timed putting the fretless neck on this evening. 12:02 minutes from playing fretted in tune to playing a tuned fretless out of tune.
  8. The One there is not. The Chase only there is.
  9. I play bass like that. In my dreams
  10. Matthew Ramsey is laying it DOWN.
  11. I have these left over from my time as a luthier. Do they just last or do they go off?
  12. I have one of these. So very, very useful. If nothing else, a superb headphone practice rig.
  13. By now a Hellborg preamp and a Sadowsky floor unit. But I have had to try them all. I have not played through a Simone. But the Monique was very, very lovely. I no longer own it because I cannot play without earplugs. So any of that luscious detail is lost on me. I like other people, but not enought to treat them to a fabulous thing they would not notice becuase of Mr Drummer and the Guitarmageddon.
  14. He covers an awful lot of sonic space and anchors their work beautifully. And all with a pick and a fuzz box!
  15. Not as many as I have in my Logic track full of different preamps. many of which are very lovely with fine detail and stuff. Until Mr Drums (and it always is Mr) appears. Or the Guitarmageddon happens. Or, frankly, the mix engineer gets in there and does the eq and compression for the track thing.
