  1. Piezo. But make sure you get a good preamp to buffer the piezo properly.
  2. Toby Chennell made it for me. https://m.facebook.com/jazzboxukes/
  3. Plantation Lullabies - M'eshel Ben Folds 5 - 1st album.
  4. That is some lovely looking wood! This (these) will be nice.
  5. I bought my first full fat P bass about 30 year into playing. I knew very quickly that the wide nut was not for me. I had just never experienced it so had no idea. The irony is that the other P I already had is a 73 body and neck with various bits screwed onto it. It turns out that the 73 neck is an A width neck so even though I was doing the authentic P thing, I had no idea that the "proper" nut width was not my flavour.
  6. Take a guess? Yep, correct, it is all good.
  7. Ain't that the truth. When I am not match fit on DB (all the time these days) I have to use Super Glue to prevent blisters. Until it beds in, the sound is radically different. My wife is a harpist and she cannot use it because the sound changes so much.
  8. That is the joy of knackered vintage Fenders. You can donk them as much as you like. It just does not matter. I am actually serious. The pleasure of not worrying about your zip, that chair corner etc etc!
  9. Having said that, Andy you have your own behemoth thread in here about new necks. I do understand that neither are building from scratch, but again, they kind of are. Is it time to rethink forum boundries? Am I thinking too hard about this? The concept of having two basses with A/B setups is very attractive. I recently had a bass which sounded STONKING, but did not feel like what I like to feel. But I could hear what the electronics were doing in it so I do not think that the different structures would make the whole thing invalid at all.
  10. That was it. I always fancied it. The Dudepit was a riot. In many ways.
  11. I am struggling not to buy one of their new sparkly silver, twin humbucker Tele guitars. We live in the golden age of lutherie.
  12. We should all be wearing masks in public places. Full stop.
  13. A midi controller keyboard and a copy of Garage Band running on a 2nd hand iPhone. Job done.
  14. 5. If the strings do get a bit "draggy" you can run your finger down the OUTSIDE of your nose and take some of the oil between your nostril and your cheek which just gives you some slidy-ness.
  15. I will confess to having quite a history with these. I have learnt a few things. 1. In my experience, eventually the flobbadob (copyrigh HJ above) strings settle down and are ok. 2. The solid body ones do not cut it as a DB-alike. You need that acoustic body to give the thud. 3. Fretless ones do make it even easier to DB. 4. For me, the scale length thing ceased to be and issue within about 90 seconds. Give me a second and I will dig out the proof of my love for the concept.
  16. Totally. You could buy a 65" 4K TV and have a fabulous time.
  17. Thanks. It is very lovely indeed, but I cannot keep everything.
