  1. So, is the 945 a step up from the 745? I have a secret hankering for a 745 but maybe I should change allegiances.
  2. I had never really clocked the line as such. Cracking. That bloke's wall is making me feel uncomfortable though.
  3. Yep, I was just mourning the fact that my loud days were too LOUD and that I can no longer do those. But I can still do deep.
  4. My hearing is too compromised to get excited about loud any more. But deep is The Bomb. I had an ACME 12" which was appreciably bigger than the "standard" 12" cabs. It went beatifully deep.
  5. Nice.
  6. Of course, if we all had access to a decent bridge we would not need any reverb plugins. https://fb.watch/gfvRFZqd4b/
  7. Not a deal. But this seems to be the place to discuss plugins. After resisting buying a Strymon Big Sky for a long time I finally caved. Then they announce the plug in! https://cdm.link/2022/10/strymon-big-sky-reverb-plug-in/
  8. I was in a guitar shop in LA, looked to my left and then mouthed to the guy serving me "isthatBBKing?". He looked over and confirmed that it was. I have lost his autograph.
  9. That kind of looks like a RA Deep 5 which has been left too close to the fire and has melted a little. In a good way.
  10. This will not be done before we have a new PM (and I am not talking about Private Messages here) but it will be close!
  11. I feel no guilt.
  12. I would love it. I sold too many. No good will come of downsizing.
  13. If the new owner does not want the strap I would be happy to buy it back!
  14. I would like to take the Boss if it is still available.
  15. Just for ABSOLUTE clarity, the irony was that women are outnumbered by men in bass-dom but all my best pupils were women. Nothing else. Shout out to Allison, Rhiannon, Sara, Anita and Katie, in no particular order.
  16. <gratuitous drooling post>
  17. M'eshell is as good as it gets on bass. Ironically, when I was doing lessons the girls were always better than the boys. My top 5 pupils would all have been girls.
  18. You have issues. I salute you
  19. See it being brought to life.
  20. I have tried to go to outboard preamps, but not all my playing situations are backline situations. This means that I really appreciate being able to reach things with my hands while I play. I could have things on the floor, but that is just another thing to plug in and I like having everything in one place. With "floor things" that is another bag, lead, PSU etc to carry around. But I am fully aware that what I like does not work for everyone. My wife has mentioned this.
  21. I must admit I struggle with Custom Shop stuff when Bravewood is out there.
  22. I am in love with this bass tone. Will our favourite box give me something similar?
  23. I would say an amp is essential. Playing too hard so as to be heard acoustically sets up all sorts of wrong precedents. A very small mixer so you can put two basses + music through said amp makes everything tidy. When I used to teach, certainly with beginners, I would ask them what song they wanted to play. Obv, sometimes there was a bit of direction needed. But if it is their song then there is a huge amount of determination to make it right. Tricky passages can be simplified so that they get the full experience. I also did one octave 24/124/134 scales with alternate fingers on the right hand so that they begin to develop dexterity right from the start. Obviously, 1 finger was enough for Jamerson should be enough for us, but.......
