  1. For me, NS provide the defiintive EUB experience.
  2. I would be interested to see him. Could you give me a link?
  3. My first really good bass is my 66 Jazz which I bought from someone who did not know what he had. I also did not know what he had, I just knew it looked like Jaco's and I had to have it. It has set the bar for all basses since then and anytime I pick up J bass I feel "at home" in a way nothing else has.
  4. I think he is probably referencing one of my solos there.
  5. I have actually warmed to Mr 504. He obviously has a market which is totally not us and he is hitting it well. His tongue is firmly in his cheek most of the time. I wish him well.
  6. Thanks y'all. I am very comfortable with the "auto" drummer facility in Logic so am basically looking for new sound options. I have taken the Slate freebie and will see what happens
  7. Any thoughts on a decent set of drum samples? I sometimes think that there must be life beyond Logic's sample set. I do not expect something for nothing - even though that never hurts. But I just do not know where to even start looking
  8. I realise that this is a poor sales pitch for here, but I sold it on ebay.
  9. As it happens, I do. Absolutely tons of gain. The minutiae of the different settings are just too subtle to make any discernable dfference. The saturation control adds a nice girth which is good. An overall stand alone bass preamp? Not for me.
  10. I have a neck made of rosewood. No lacquer and it feels lovely every time!
  11. No, it was fine and dandy before I put Lemon oil on.
  12. It was a brand new neck and the frets became very rough and scratchy.
  13. I used Lemon Oil on a brand new fingerboard. It did something horrible to the frets. I needed a full fret workover polish thing (I am aware that there is probably a good word for this) from a tech. I do not know if it was a dodgy batch or what. I will never touch Lemon Oil again.

    Gear fads

My whole life has been a Bass fad.
  15. And the final verdict is, it does work. The B string does not thunder like the 64' stop on a church organ, but in my heart I knew that would be the case. It will probably be a string for special occasions only. But if nothing else, it will remind me that I am now more used to a 5 string than a 4 string so muscle memory will not have to adapt The original preamp sits nicely with the pickup filling out the lower register nicely. In case anyone has ever had any doubts about Jez's abilities, the man is a wood whisperer.
  16. To be fair, you can see their point.

    Refin MM Sub 5

Not from MM. They don't dig the aftermarket refinish.

Ceri the painter is quite particular about what he will and will not do. "..... like I told you before though, I won’t do any old job, I have to be interested in the finish myself, all those white or surf green guitars can do one 🤣"

    Refin MM Sub 5

I have a white scratchplate ready for it. It is not here yet. I am quite excited.

  22. Sting falling on the piano and then laughing at the beginning of Roxanne This clip plays two phrases from the 2nd verse of Roxanne. Compare the reverb tail at the end of "night" and "right." The first decays naturally and cleanly, the second ends abruptly. Can't recall if it is R or L but you can tell its all on one continuous vocal take cause you can hear Macca snuffling accident master tape Led Zep III? I think I read that the first few inches of the tape got crinkled up somehow, and they had to iron it flat to get it through the tape heads, resulting in that weird hissing sound at the beginning of "Immigrant Song". 23. I used to have a whole spreadsheet of these for Aural Perception at work. I will dig it out.
