Spector bargain (maybe) 1 hour to go
mybass replied to fiatcoupe432's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Heck, I've never seen a G string so close to the edge of the fboard. Maybe the nut or bridge needs some serious looking at. -

What bass do you regret selling? Was it love?
mybass replied to vinorange's topic in General Discussion
In the days of black and white I traded in a 4001 stereo for a Gibson Les Paul Bass, had a new neck put on to make it 34" scale with a bass clef inlay at the 12th fret, by Dick Knight. Fantastic job done, I later sold or traded or swapped it. Any Basschatter got this bass, I wonder? -
Top man Ray, met halfway to collect a bass from me at Winchester station, a good natter as we both once hailed from Twickers/west London area, catching up on haunts in the area. Strangely enough, a stranger overheard us talking about gigs and joined in with.....'my first gig was on guitar at the original Glastonbury with my mate Daisy (male) getting up to sing along with the Carol Grimes Band'. Turns out this chap also once lived in Twickers and also that I knew Daisy myself (RIP) and a host of other people from the area. Small world, thanks Ray, an interesting afternoon!

Loving This - New From Tedeschi Truck Band
mybass replied to Mykesbass's topic in General Discussion
One of my favourite groups Mike.....is this off the new cd/DVD set? -
The larger 2x10 MarkBass are good stand alone cabs anyway but it looks like the NY 122 'Ninja' cab is 800watts @8 ohms so your (MB) amp could run a second 8ohm cab, while the NY 122 is a 4ohm cab so no more added cabs.

takes a few seconds to allow sound through on both my MB amps, quite normal. Maybe yours hadn't been used for a while when you got it.

Dodgy Elixir Nanoweb strings bought on Ebay
mybass replied to EmaTheMirror's topic in Accessories and Misc
D'Addario have a number stamp on each pack that can be cross referenced on their website, ( under the 'play real' tab at the bottom of the page). I use this now as I had a dodgy set some years ago, half volume output no attack, I thought something was odd with the pickups for a while. Do Elixer have is system? -
Fender Jazz , neck and neck pocket stamps.. Thanks sorted
mybass replied to haimesy's topic in Bass Guitars
Hi Guys ..can anyone help me with these stamps on my Jazz . It's dates as 77/78 on the date website .. the pick ups are dated 79.. just curious what the neck and pocket stamps mean.. I believe it was a bit of a mish mash of parts at fender during this period .there quite faded but any info would be much appreciated .. john
I think they sometimes correspond to batch numbers in the factory (as my Tokai is), a signature could be the 'tech' who inspected the bass. -
(I may be tempted to trade for a Markbass 2x12 or Markbass combo). This bass has sat in the cupboard after only doing a few gigs. I built it for ease of carrying onto flights to Italy some years ago using the Rockbag softcase (included in the price). £500 gets you a bass with some lovely woods that give the bass great sustain. The upper outline follows the P bass design. Beautiful 2 piece Mahogany main body wood that I was off a very old piece of furniture. American Black Walnut top that I purchased from a wood yard about twelve years ago. A five piece maple/wenge neck. Macassar ebony fingerboard. (The 'control' guard I cannot testify to what it was but looks very much like the maccassar f/board). Actual controls are Vol/Vol/Tone. The tuning system is a licensed one bought 'as new' and uses standard string single ball ends. Seymour Duncan humbuckers. There are two strap holders at the base end, allowing two strap place options. Scale length is 34" with a double octave neck. Nut width is a tad over 1.5" / 39.3mm. It has 3mm side dots starting from low F. The neck leans more towards a P bass size than a Jazz neck though I'm sure it would take being 'slimmed' down. There are six wood cupped screws holding the neck solidly in place. The body and neck have an oil finish (Tru oil on body). I couldn't upload the mP3 sound clip but I have it available. It is recorded straight off a Yamaha desk. Seymour Duncan has been around a long long time so he knows his stuff. His Basslines bass range are as good as any. I've used his active and passive Jazz sets for years and I think they are excellent on my fretless and fretted basses.

Nothing wrong with Delano's pups on my fretless bass.

Just about to put up the same question myself Bassbora and Rich has answered some of it.....I am looking for a decent soldering station instead of replacing a solder iron every couple of years as I saw one from Stewmac (Solomon SL 30 @ £100 +). They seem to be around £45-60 for standard 'hobby' use and then up in the hundreds for pro workshops. Let's see what other models come in.
