Any 'feedback' about Goldo hardware from anyone.

I am leaning towards reuniting with the Schaller 3D in black but crikey, prices (and availability) have changed! -

Rufus Reed has photos in his (old) book of DBs strapped upside down in a seat…I wonder if he got the bass’s meal and drinks!

The Schaller 3D will move when changing strings if you inadvertently pull the string across the roller… -
Has anyone been using Goldo parts from Germany on basses and have they found a difference for better or not so over other 'established' names like Schaller, Hipshot etc?

Business concluded within an hour with Gary/Cetera for a spare pickup I had that he wanted! Terrific dealings, thanks Gary.

SOLD I bought this amp (along with a guitar) last year but I’m never going to use it at home….it’s very LOUD if volume is needed! I’ve cleaned it up and tested it, all working pedal and reverb. The pots have had a cleaner spray but only via undoing the front panel retaining nut to spray down the shaft, this has still left scratchy pots so would need looking at……hence the low price, (especially against some very high prices elsewhere). I will search online for a manual and add it as soon as…. I’m down the A3 halfway to London/Portsmouth….could meet up or come and try it out.

…..recent blog from a band apologising for not playing playing again this year as their ‘tickets’ hadn’t arrived. Apparently they had three stages to play on and have only just found out these smaller stages are run separately from the main G’bury organisation, tickets being limited in some business way that makes money but doubtful the bands on these ‘smaller’ stages get anything except tickets for the band to gain entrance.

Pipped at the no: 1 slot by Robbie Williams that Xmas …… story….Gordon called for the band to appear with him, we had our live equipment, we set up, played through the song and did a first ‘run’. The producer lady thanked us and said ‘that was great, it’s in the can’! Aside she mentioned she loved having live music played on the show……..meanwhile a Spice girl was having repeated attempts to get her song sorted out, backing tapes not being the problem, it was the dancers not getting their steps right 🤣🤣🤣

Draw the outline of the headstock onto the neck blank to estimate where the rod will be placed….leaving enough channel to allow the Allen key to fit for adjustment needs, (put the key in the truss rod pre route and see how much longer the channel should be). You will see that the rod has slightly deeper and possibly wider dimensions where the soldered/squared parts are, these can be sorted after routing the channel.

I used Peavey for many years including the MK3 amp and 2x15 Black Widow cab…..loud, ferocious and gutsy but heavy too.

You may some luck selling to a local school if they have someone who can verify along with you, that it’s in playable condition.

From your pictures…….It looks to be a ‘student’ bass made with cheaper wood content….body of ply, very possible, by the look of the neck to body join picture you may have a Beech wood neck and not a maple neck though you may be lucky with having a solid Macassar ebony fingerboard and not a soft white wood that has been stained (as my first student cheap bass was). The bridge is likely to be a maple one. I can’t comment on the tuners as I don’t know enough about them. If there is no visible makers sticker inside the body cavity (I’m told sometimes on the underside of the belly, requiring a mirror to view it but that’s maybe on old basses) it’s all difficult by pics to ascertain a value (from me that is) so a visit to a double bass repair/builder would be best.

Most pickups have flat surfaces and flat even pole pieces. A lot of basses have radius/curved string to fingerboard height so the E and G are usually nearer the pickup pole pieces while the A and D sit higher from the pole pieces to accommodate this fingerboard radius to string height. This has always been a problem and the probable reason why many Precision pickups are ‘angled’ so acutely to accommodate this discrepancy in string height / volumes. There are manufacturers who make pickups with radius contour, I have Delano radius pickups and DiMarzio jazz pickups have high adjustable pole pieces.
