Dunno what kind of band setup you’ve got but Soul With A Capital “S” by Tower of Power is one to get people in the mood. It won’t be the same without a horn section though!

She’s here!! Obligatory family shot: Have just been having a play for the past half hour or so, going through the available tones and I’m very very happy. Classic Precision growl with the split coil, more trebly bark from the bridge humbucker and blending them together kind of smooths out the characteristics of both for a less aggressive sound, at least to my ears. 2-band preamp with a treble knob which functions as a tone control in passive mode. All basses should have this IMO. So far I’ve got the preamp set identically to my Electra VS4 - treble up about 2/3 of the way and a very slight bass boost in active. Switch to passive and everything mellows out by default. Lovely. Previous owner strung it with new Rotosound Swing Stainless Steels 45-130 which I’ve never tried before but I like them well enough. I’ve got a fresh pack of Dunlop Flats which have gone churlishly unused for over a month so I’m considering putting them on. Action is perfectly playable but just a touch higher than I’d like so I’ll be lowering that at some point either today or tomorrow. The neck is somewhere between a satin and gloss finish, but more on the glossy side of the spectrum. May have to get that taken down a bit but so far it’s not nearly as obnoxious as a typical “true gloss”. There’s a scratch on the back near the neck bolts which I knew before buying. A slight downer but who’s seeing the back anyway?? What a back though: And there we have it. All in all I got a bit of a bargain for an incredibly well built, unique bass. I’ll be going on tour for a year with a theatre show from July and I can only take one bass with me. This is definitely the one. Now my MTD is feeling a bit of sibling jealousy .

I’ll see what I can do There’s no escaping the smooth love bass lines though

This. Deals can be had!

TODAY IS THE DAY. I can barely contain my excitement.

That is some tasty looking grain.

That is a nice flock of Sandys! All of them sold now?
-
Right?! It’s gotta be one of the very last old shape Californias. Will match my Electra nicely, though they have different shaped pickguards. There will be a family photo at some point tomorrow

I’m a relatively recent member of the Sandberg club myself. Had this Electra VS4 for a few months and love it. Upgraded with a passive tone knob which works in active or passive. Had the neck sanded down from gloss to satin finish. I invested in some rather nice Delano knobs too. Strung with Labella Black Nylon Tapewounds. Supposedly Sandberg’s “budget” range of basses but my god it’s nice! And its soon to arrive sibling:

Looks “thicker” too. As in, from floor to ceiling. Wasn’t really expecting that but now I think about it the t16 enclosure does sit lower than most full sized pedals so in reality I guess the t65 is completely standard.

I’m throbbing as we speak! It was originally listed last October but the seller was based in Wales and wouldn’t ship, much to my dismay. Messaged the current seller this morning and negotiated on price as I knew full well he was asking for a couple of hundred quid more than he’d paid. After a few minutes pondering he agreed to match the original price which made me a very happy bunny.

I am indeed. So excited that I now cannot be bothered waiting to post pics - I’ve already let the cat out of the bag elsewhere so... A review will be in order once I receive it methinks!
-
Just creating this thread as a placeholder for tomorrow when I collect what can only be described as an item of pure bass porn. I have photos which the seller took but think I may hold off until I get my grubby mitts on it tomorrow and take some of my own! Watch this space...

Are you looking to be able to record or just jam? Also, what’s your budget? The obvious choice if recording isn’t a concern would be a small mixer with a couple of instrument inputs. Most mixers will only have a single headphone output though so you’d have to use a splitter to be able to plug 2 sets of phones in, and even then you’d have to both run at the same volume level, etc. Interface-wise, most of them tend to only have a single headphone output as well, although something like this is an exception to that rule: https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/160513297797002--focusrite-scarlett-6i6-2nd-gen?gclid=Cj0KCQjw5-TXBRCHARIsANLixNyQ5vAQPX6325f6R5rKxZ4QGDx28077JqZtYE7v86eILgIf01ZCmp8aAnDeEALw_wcB No iOS support though!

As a side note, I found running my old Aggy Filter twin into my Octamizer with the clean turned up a bit actually worked surprisingly well. Gave me a sort of parallel envelope filtered sound on top of my sub octave.
-
Yeah I think pretty much all analog octavers need to be first in line, receiving an unaffected signal. Compressors are fine, but anything else which adds harmonics etc will only confuse the circuit. Digital octavers are a different story

Anyone buy the Ed Friedland walking bass lines course??

Well I got it last October-ish so the wait may be more like 6 months? -
You’ll have a pretty mammoth wait on your hands then! Remember how long it was between the POD HD generation and Helix?
-
Extremely rare to find that combination of both time-based and modulation effects in one easy to use box, outside the realm of digital multis. With that in mind, I suggest you tear your board apart and go for the following: Smooth Hound Wireless > octaver of choice > filter of choice > Line 6 HX effects. The octavers and envelope filters in the HX aren’t going to compete with the best of the analog world but for everything else it’s killer. And you have the now infamously user-friendly Helix interface upon which to build patches and presets. Stereo ins/outs, 2 expression inputs, 2 FX loops (to insert the octaver and filter into) and MIDI i/o. This will all fit onto a Pedaltrain Metro with ease. I’ve been considering going this route myself to be honest! Edit: ah, missed the bit about lack of DI output and headphone amp. Indeed, this is an annoying oversight by Line 6 but I guess something had to give! Stick a radial Stagebug on the end with the thru output going to a PJB BigHead

Having a bit more fun with the configurator. This time an Elwood L 5er, passive. Aguilar PJ pups with a Tonestyler. The J is humcancelling. Maple Burl top, charcoal burst satin finish. Abalone Maruszczyk logo. €2,030 though
-
That’s a sad state of affairs. Those cans of yours are power hungry!
-
Also @dave_bass5 I loved my BH800. It’s the reason I know the SD will work for me tonally!
-
I have to say I’ve owned several TC pedals and have never been arsed to edit the prints. I just find a ready made one I like and play. Thanks for clarifying the headphone amp situation, I’m pretty tempted to just buy one now as pretty much all the questions I had about the unit have been answered. I’ll be running either a pair of Sennheiser Momentum Wireless (in wired mode) or Sony earbuds. Neither of which are particularly difficult to drive. Happy days!

I got it while it was on offer but I’ve barely scratched the surface. So far so good though, I really enjoy Ed’s teaching style.
