  1. Another +1 for the Yamaha THR10. It has guitar and bass amp models built in, a handful of nice effects, an aux input, headphone output and also works as an audio interface for recording. It looks great too.
  2. I was about to say “if only they did it in a 5er” ...then a cursory google search revealed that they do! Arghhh
  3. Ibanez BTB 5ers usually have 19mm string spacing at the bridge, the SRs are usually 17mm. MTD Kingstons are 19mm too. The Yamaha BB series 5ers are 18mm though and very comfy, as well as sounding huge! As far as scale length is concerned, I’m a strong believer that string gauge has a much greater influence on string tension than an extra inch in scale length. In other words, don’t get too hung up on getting a bass with a 35” scale as there are plenty of fantastic basses out there at 34” or less!
  4. Massive +1 to all of this. also, it seems impossible to find the workshop page through the site itself. I’m on an iPad so maybe this is an issue which only applies to the mobile version of the site but still...I literally had to google search “Bass Gallery workshop” to get to the relevant page!
  5. They are indeed great instruments. Also, there are a few MTD Kingstons for sale here on the forum which are also 35” scale and have some of the comfiest neck profiles I’ve played. Definitely worth a look.
  6. For that money I’d say hunt for a high end used Ibanez 5er. You’ve already got your eye on the fanned fret model which would be a good choice but there are loads of other models that’ll tick your boxes nicely. What’s your preference on string spacing, @FarFromTheTrees?
  7. Any chance of a BCers discount?
  8. Apologies if this has already been covered earlier in the thread but what’s the policy on ticket transfers? A friend of mine is offering me one of his weekend tickets - he bought 1 and won the other but only needs 1 of them for himself. Apparently the spare ticket has got his name on it and we’re not sure if that means I’ll be turned away at the door??
  9. Always a pleasure to visit The Gallery - as @Al Krow mentioned above, we’ve had a couple of pedal/cab shootouts there and the guys have been very friendly and accommodating. I’ve personally had setups and mods done to a couple of my basses and the results are always pleasing. I really should learn how to properly do my own setups but I’m just too lazy Also, Charlie introduced me to Comfort Strapps which I now use exclusively as they’re excellent!
  10. Agreed. In many cases I find a passive tone knob to be more useful than a 2 or 3 band EQ!
  11. @tonyclaret, I’d recommend an amp that can put out at least 250w @ 8 Ohms. What amp do you currently use? And where are you based?
  12. @Bo0tsy, you have one of these yet? edit: the Micro-Tron I mean
  13. Got some Labella Black Nylons on my Sandberg P bass and love them. Really fun to play and the tone on them is great! Plus they really look cool.
  14. Gah! If this were a 5 string set I’d be gnawing your arm off!
  15. Micro Thumpinator just gone up for sale on the Bass Players Market UK Facebook group. Priced at £90. Get it while it’s hot! Edit: never mind, turns out it’s on here as well!
  16. Yes I’d love to hear it. I’m sure it’ll help the sale either way! Also, What are the positions of the side dots? Where they would normally be on a fretted bass or on the “frets” themselves?
  17. Just gonna leave this here... https://www.zikinf.com/annonces/dispannonce.php?annonce=1529602
  18. These photos are definitely food for thought. I’ve toyed with the prospect of a 6er of late. Though I already have a 5er with a low B and a 5er with a high C so technically I’m covered... It’s not the same though is it?
  19. Gator make so many decent quality bags and cases of varying shapes and sizes. They’re all really reasonably priced, especially compared to their official/manufacturer equivalents and in many cases (pun intended) the Gator versions are of a higher quality too. I have the one designed to fit the Behringer XR12/18 mixers which I instead use as a “pedalboard first aid kit” with a load of patch cables, power leads, Velcro, adapters, etc - it does the job perfectly.
  20. My god that is nice. Just got one of my basses back from Martin a couple of days ago after having some repairs and mods done. He’s a fine craftsman and a gent to boot!
