  1. Do what @mcnach did and order a custom Precision with 2 J pickups instead of the P
  2. @Smythe this bass sold a little while back!
  3. I’m a reasonably recent convert to the P Lovers’ Club. I guess I spent years loving bass in general but it’s only recently that I’ve truly started enjoying the distinct characteristics of a P vs a J vs an MM etc. I personally enjoy them all but there’s no shame in realising you only truly love a specific kind of bass. Why force yourself to like an instrument? Life’s too short. We all want a bass to feel great AND sound great but ultimately if we don’t like the basic sound our instrument makes then I don’t think there’s any point in playing it. Music is primarily an aural experience after all. If you’ve found your “voice”, don’t be afraid to stick with it.
  4. DSM Omnicabsim for sale in the classifieds, folks. Get it while it’s hot!
  5. I personally prefer the way they complement the inherent tone of a P pickup.
  6. Fast forward to 1:10 to get to the jazz bass part of the video.
  7. I’m actually getting some Labella Black Nylons put onto my Sandberg Electra VS4 as we speak, amongst a few other mods. I’ll hopefully be able to pick it up from The Gallery tomorrow so will report back. Very excited!
  8. As a general rule, flatwounds are quite high in tension vs nylon tapewounds which are known for having a much lower tension. I guess the order of string tension from highest to lowest would be flatwounds > roundwounds > tapewounds. If you’re used to flats then tapes will be quite a change!
  9. It’s probably the best value for money Synth pedal ever made.
  10. Except that if you listen to any Jazz, Neo Soul, R&B etc (as I do) that method will often not work 😒
  11. Hmmm. You could do worse than a Yamaha BB424 or similar. The P/J config would give you a different flavour to your US Jazz.
  12. The dinosaurs are slowly but surely approaching extinction if this thread has anything to do with it!
  13. Now back up at £950! Seems the seller saw the error of his/her ways.
  14. Ok, so here’s another question. Each major key has a relative minor containing all of the same notes. E flat shares the same notes as C minor for example. They both contain the same three flats and look like this on a stave: So how exactly do you know, just by looking at that, whether the song is in E Flat Major or C minor?
  15. Here’s a photo of the board I posted above fully loaded with pedals and cables. Could have been neater in hindsight but it was a massive improvement over leaving the cables “wild”
  16. You know the old saying: buy cheap, buy twice. Not gonna happen with these RCFs!
