    As you can see I also lined one of the underside “channels” with Velcro as I mounted my Strymon Ojai and Micro Thumpinator under the board. Worked very well!

    I haven’t used my Smoothhound in quite a while as I’ve been at home and haven’t needed to. It easily survived CameronJ’s great pedal cull of 2018 though because I just know i’ll need it!

    A similar but slightly different solution to @dannybuoy, I use self adhesive cable clips like these: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F162515629911 I find them much less hassle than cable ties as you can just push/pull the cables into and out of them easily. They come in different sizes - the smallest size can grip a couple of power cables at a time, the larger ones can hold more. Here’s a photo of the bottom of my old main board. All the clips except one are the smallest size, with one large clip which I put on to hold the actual barrel jack end of one of the cables, which it did perfectly:

    Yep, I wholeheartedly agree re: the pickups. Much more easily modded now. Although the new pups are typical Yamaha quality, i.e. excellent. Upgrades likely won’t be needed!

    Somewhat off topic but my eyes widened at the sight of your TC Blacksmith and Big Twin 2 rig! The output of that combo must be mistaken for earth tremors by passers-by at gig venues

    These are the newer siblings of the BB424/425s and as such their pedigree is proven. @Al Krow and I were in the Yamaha store in Central London a little while back and got to play some BBs. I don’t think either of us laid hands on the 435 but based on what we did try, the new series are every bit as well made as the oldies.

    The spectracomp is great. As far as bang-to-buck ratio it pretty much can’t be beat.

    Whilst not strictly the same as the Warwick, my MTD Super 5 is also a double-bucker. My favourite tones are with one pickup in series and the other in parallel. Still working out which pup I prefer to be in series and which in parallel but I find mixing them up to deliver a nice “best of both” middle ground. Beefier than both pups in parallel but more articulate than both pups in series.

    Gator make mixer/controller soft cases of various dimensions - might be worth checking them out. @dood

    Checked out the specs on the Gator website: Interior Length 14 " Interior Width 19 " Interior Height 3.5 " I’m assuming in this case that “Length” means depth.

    You’re probably right about the tonal characteristics of the Markbass vs the PJB but I wouldn’t want to play a gig with either of them competing with a load of ambient noise and other instruments... I own the PJB and strongly suspect the Markbass will go louder.

    To be fair, this is a damn good point.

    Ambient speaks sense. An outside eye will often see the things that are glaringly obvious but that we just haven’t noticed for ourselves yet.
